Stadtjäger Down

The main quest of The Shadowed Throne is named after its achievement. It needs the Wunderbuss and the three special melee weapons, and ends aboard Straub’s zeppelin against the Stadtjäger. It can be done solo.

Before you start

Build the Wunderbuss, open the Ubersprengen if you can, and earn the Nachtmahr, the Perchta and the Holda.

Players

One to four. The health of the boss grows with the number of players.

Reward

The ending cinematic, the achievement Stadtjäger Down and the limit of four Blitz lifted in later games.

Step 1: Barbarossa’s Refuge

  1. Place the three weapons in the stone recesses of a wall by the Church, to the right of the large red door.
  2. Fill them with Geistkraft: 20 zombies killed near the Perchta, 10 Gekochts near the Holda and 10 Pests near the Nachtmahr. The door of the Refuge swings open slowly.
  3. Inside, overload the tether of the zeppelin with the beam of the Wunderbuss. The door slams shut behind the players.

The Refuge

A small square courtyard with a golden statue of Barbarossa, a Grease Gun locker and a Resupply Package.

The door

It can kill a player standing in its way when it opens.

Step 2: the statues

  1. Shoot the statues in the recesses of the walls until they spark and turn. Each must face the center of the courtyard.
  2. Each wall that is solved gives a golden raven. There are four.
  3. Place the four ravens on the statue of Barbarossa. In the right places they light up green; in the wrong ones they light up red and fall back around the courtyard.
  4. With all four green, the blade of the statue breaks and reveals the true Blade of Barbarossa.
  5. Place the Blade in the recess by the door to open the way out.

Blade of Barbarossa

The blade and ricasso of the sword, broken off after the emperor’s death. Its swing sends out a wave of Geistkraft, but its kills give no Jolts.

Step 3: the tethers

Once the flares have called it, the zeppelin hangs over the district on four tethers. The one of the Refuge is the first; the beam of the Wunderbuss overloads the three others:

With the four tethers overloaded, a drop pod comes down onto Main Street on a chain.

Step 4: the zeppelin

  1. Every player gets into the drop pod with a full Wunderbuss.
  2. Shoot the chain together. The pod rises as long as it is fed, and falls back if the players stop.
  3. On board, use the terminals to move a power source along the track under the gratings, opening the gates one by one.
  4. Bring it into Straub’s laboratory at the center of the zeppelin. His dormant specimens wake up and tear him apart.
  5. Go back to the drop pod of the arrival. The Stadtjäger drops down.

Step 5: the Stadtjäger

The Stadtjäger has 32,000 health in solo, multiplied by 1.75 with two players, 2 with three and 2.5 with four. Its body glows orange when it can be hurt, and each opening can only take 1,500 health, multiplied the same way.

Phase 1

It can only be hurt while it winds up its charge. Shooting it provokes the charge.

Phase 2

From 60 % health, the wind-up no longer opens it, but it now fires volleys of Geistbolts that turn zombies into Gekochts, and it can be hurt while it fires.

Phase 3

From 30 % health, it raises storms of Geistkraft around itself and can be hurt during them. The Wunderbuss stuns it, and at the end it shoots itself in the head with its own cannon.

Take the drop pod of the arrival back down to Main Street and step out: the ending cinematic plays and the achievement unlocks.

The ending

Back on the ground, the team faces a horde and a Meistermeuchler, until Major Hank Rideau runs it down in a vehicle and tells them to get in. With the Blade, the three pieces of the Sword of Barbarossa are in Allied hands, and the story goes on in The Tortured Path.

In the First Room

Nothing of the quest happens in the Underbelly. The drop pod lands on Main Street, two doors away, and every step before it is played behind the doors.
