The side Easter eggs

Beyond the main quest, The Tomb hides a song, a self-repairing armor, a free Ray Gun and a string of small rewards. Most of them need an Ammo Mod, the shovel or the Dark Aether Nexus, so almost none can be done with the doors closed; the exceptions are noted below.

Dig, the song

The musical Easter egg plays Dig, written by Kevin Sherwood with Matt Heafy, of Trivium, on vocals. It starts after interacting with three pairs of headphones themed after Mister Peeks, the bunny mascot of Black Ops Zombies:

  1. In the Ossuary, on a ledge along the wall by the rightmost stairs that lead to the green portal.
  2. In the Shrine of the Hierophants, under a ledge to the left of Stamin-Up.
  3. In the Dark Aether Nexus, at its south-east edge, next to a glowing blue and orange spore.

A remix of the song Aether, The Tomb Mix, plays after quickly shooting the symbols I, I and V on both Staff of Ice murals.

Gold Armor

The Gold Armor Vest gives every player a Level III vest whose plates come back on their own: “Auto-Regenerates Armor slowly over time.” Its last steps take place in the First Room, but the heads it needs are in the Nexus.

  1. In the Dark Aether Nexus, melee two wooden crates, one right of Juggernog and one left of the green portal, under a bush, and take the stone head inside each.
  2. In the Dig Site, put the heads back on the two headless statues.
  3. Interact with a statue to start a Blood Sacrifice: every player’s health drops to 1 while armor takes all the damage, a red fog fills the Dig Site, and three Elite Doppelghasts or three Elite Shock Mimics come. Kill them without leaving the Dig Site, and without scorestreaks.
  4. After the second sacrifice, the two ox statues above the Pack-a-Punch spot of the Roman Mausoleum fire a beam that reveals the vest on the wall, free for every player.

Free weapons and perks

Free Ray Gun

The dig spots around the map, dug with a shovel, give Salvage, armor plates, weapons, equipment or perks. With Death Perception, a green Ancient Gem sometimes comes out too. Three gems placed on the leftmost statue facing the bull mural of the Tombs summon an Elite Doppelghast and a few Doppelghasts; once they are dead, the statue gives a Ray Gun and 1,000 Essence.

Free Random Perk

In the Speed Cola room of the Ossuary, six unlit braziers flank the entrances. Light them with the Napalm Burst Ammo Mod or Molotovs, and a Random Perk appears in the middle of the room.

Free Pack-a-Punch

In the Nexus, a floating rock sparks blue. Shoot it, then the five rocks that start moving, for a Raw Aetherium Crystal and the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod.

Free Aether Tool

Near the green door of the Nexus, freeze two waterfalls with a Cryo Freeze weapon. The Aether Tool that drops is Rare up to round 11, Epic from 12 to 21 and Legendary from 22.

Free Essence

In the Dig Site, shoot the two blue generators, one under the Level II Armor wall buy and one left of the bottom stairs to the GobbleGum Machine, with the Dead Wire Ammo Mod. A Full Power and two 500-Essence canisters appear on the fallen pillar. It is the one secret entirely inside the First Room.

Hidden power-ups

Tiny copies of each power-up are hidden around the map, and picking one up grants it:

  • Bonus Points: in a small hole in the wall left of the blue portal, in the Nexus.
  • Max Ammo: on a ledge right above the floodlight near the Arrow Trap, between the Shrine of the Hierophants and the Subterranean Temple.
  • Double Points: along the trench between the red and green portals of the Nexus, above a mushroom across from the Ammo Cache.
  • Full Power: in the opening left of the Crafting Table of the Shrine of the Hierophants.
  • Insta-Kill: to the bottom right of the vase on the rocks of Deep Excavation.
  • Max Armor: in a small alcove right of Speed Cola, in the Ossuary.
  • Nuke: on a rock outside the map, behind the Mystery Box of the Neolithic Catacombs.
  • Fire Sale: in the fire above the red floodlight between PhD Flopper and the Rampage Inducer, in the Dig Site. It only appears once all the others are taken.

Other secrets

The statue that turns around

A stone woman with her back to the player shows up in one of three places: behind and left of the Mystery Box of the Neolithic Catacombs, outside the window of the Deadshot Daiquiri room, or on the pillar above Quick Revive. Shot, she turns, her eyes go red and she vanishes; whispers follow, then a demonic face flashes on the screen. Passing it to a teammate with a melee hit earns the Friendship Ended calling card.

The skeleton army

With the Brain Rot Ammo Mod, quickly shoot four skulls marked with an X, in the Ossuary and at the foot of the Doppelghast statue. Four zombies rise and explode at once, leaving a piece of intel, Potts and Pains Pt 4.

The Ossuary

The Speed Cola braziers, the skulls of the skeleton army, the Max Armor and the first pair of headphones are all in this part of the excavation.
