The Ballistic Shield

The Ballistic Shield of Voyage of Despair is built from three parts, on the workbench of the Poop Deck. It carries an automatic gun with 90 shots, refilled by a Max Ammo or by repairing the shield.

Gun assembly

In the State Rooms: in the L-shaped room with the shelves of towels, on a chair near the MOG 12, or on a chair in the room behind the Saug 9mm.

Window

On the Bridge: left of the Wheelhouse, on a box in the room with the metal floor, or on a railing in the hallway behind the RK 7 Garrison.

Base

In the 3rd Class Berths, on a railing through the broken wall, or in Provisions, on a box near the large open hatch or near the fruit crates left of the ICR-7.

The Svalinn Guard

The shield can be upgraded into the Svalinn Guard, covered in frost: it holds more damage, hits harder, and its gun fires Cryofreeze rounds.

In the Mail Rooms, hit the code breaker on the safe with the shield, then pick it up from the floor.
Four small safes are hidden around the ship: on the Bridge, in the Millionaire Suites, in the 1st Class Lounge and in the 3rd Class Berths. Put the code breaker on one of them: it shows a four-digit code.
Four bones lie in the Mail Rooms and the Cargo Hold, a skull, a long bone, a hand and a foot, each one next to a written code. Take the bone whose code matches the safe and put it inside, then hit the code breaker off with the shield.
Once the four safes are filled, interact with the skeleton in the car of the Cargo Hold: the car sinks through the floor and starts flying around the ship, for the first three minutes of each round.
Shoot the firework stuck in one of the tubes of the ship, pick it up where it comes out, and put it in one of the white tubes of the Forecastle or the Poop Deck, timed so that it hits the flying car.
The car crashes into an iceberg, a piece of ice falls onto the workbench, and the shield there now has the snowy look of the Svalinn Guard.

In the First Room

The three parts and the workbench are all behind doors, so a First Room game is played without a shield. The ZFRR rules of Black Ops 4 also forbid camping next to a shield table and killing hordes with repeated Victorious Tortoise shield explosions.
