Lullaby for a Dead Man

Verrückt has no main Easter egg quest. Its musical Easter egg is Lullaby for a Dead Man, by Kevin Sherwood, sung by Elena Siegman, which was already the death song of Nacht der Untoten. It can be played once per game:

  1. Open the way to the left upstairs on the German side, the room of the STG-44 and the Trench Gun, with its row of toilets.
  2. Flush the leftmost toilet three times.
  3. A cash register sound is heard, and the song starts shortly after.

Because the song is coded as a sound effect and not as music, it plays very quietly.

The dentist chair

The chair

In the Juggernog side starting room. Using the wheel on the side of the chair, crouched beside it, plays the sound of a drill followed by a man screaming. It works in a First Room game.

Sounds of the asylum

  • Behind the door to the left of the Power Room, a boy sobs quietly.
  • A man screams in the room with the M1897 Trench Gun, and another one shouts in the small room with the wheelchairs and the Thompson.
  • Screams come often from the first room that can be opened on the American side, until it is opened.
  • Crouched next to the open cremation oven of the American side, a player hears a baby, a woman or sometimes a man crying.
  • By the door that cannot be opened next to the kitchen door, in the hallway of Speed Cola, whispers can be heard, best when no zombie is around.
  • Once the power is on, odd dance music comes out of the speakers on the wall of the balconies: a distorted version of the stock track „Valse“ by Stephan Diez.
  • In the Power Room a radio voice recites the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42, the numbers of the television series Lost.

Writing on the walls

Power will reunite you

Chalked next to the electric door between the two starting rooms.

The wishing well

Above the stairs of the Power Room: „Wish too often, and your wishing well will run“, a warning about the teddy bear of the Mystery Box.

Living dead

In the room with writing all over the walls, symbols translate to „Living dead“ and „OHM 935“.

19382406 9:21

Written in what looks like blood next to the Speed Cola machine and in the kitchen: the date of a meteor that exploded over Chicora, Pennsylvania, on June 24, 1938, and the verse Jeremiah 9:21, „For death is come up into our windows“.

The circus

A poster at the end of the American balcony reads „Unbeaufsichtigte Kinder werden umgehend an den Zirkus verkauft“: unattended children will be immediately sold to the circus.

Hidden details

  • On the left balcony, just before Double Tap and next to a Mystery Box spot, a mannequin is stabbed with knives and marked „1942“. Another mannequin hangs by a rope in the Speed Cola room, next to the Juggernog poster.
  • In the room of the sawed-off shotgun, a player who jumps into the hanging lamp can make it swing about the room.
  • Under the fountain, only reachable with noclip, sits a mounted MG42 on a black block: the remains of an automatic turret cut before release, which came back in Kino der Toten. Its script is still in the game files.
  • Outside the barrier of the BAR room, rows of unusable machine guns are buried under the ground: BAR, FG42, MG42 and Browning M1919.
  • Behind the Power Room, a floating sign with a zombie on it can be found with noclip.
  • The radios of the World at War version cannot be used; the interactive radio only came with Black Ops.
