Reunion

Reunion is the main quest of Descent: twelve challenges set by Oz, which earn the Reunion achievement, 50 Gamerscore or a silver trophy. It can be done in solo, where AI characters fill the empty places in two of the steps. Each challenge round is announced by Oz and confirmed by a line of his when it succeeds.

The steps

  1. Override the encryption. In the Tidal Generator, shoot the three valves on the wall of the spiral staircase until a blue light shines above each one. A hidden room opens on the stairs: use its terminal twice. An-G answers « Access denied », and Oz asks for the power of the facility to be sent to this room.
  2. The underwater switch. In the Lounge, hold the use button at the airlock door to depressurize it; progress is kept if you let go. Then take a Goliath suit through the door, follow the lights on the seabed, knock over the floating Host in the way and use the red switch at the end. It turns blue.
  3. Drone challenge. At the next round, find and destroy the five Treasure Drones around the map before they fly away. A failed challenge starts again the next round. Do it before the last zombie dies, or it resets.
  4. Charge the capacitor. In the Galleria, by the broken fish tank, stand next to the capacitor and let EMZs hit you. Fifteen charges fill it, then An-G reports the power diverted to the Tidal Generator.
  5. Grenade challenge. For a round, every player has unlimited Contact Grenades and may kill zombies only with them.
  6. Jump puzzle. On the Landing, blue platforms appear in the air. Reach the last one, under a floating logo, with exo jumps; each success bounces you back and sets a new pattern. Nine runs complete the step. Spend your points before it.
  7. Move challenge. For a round, every step costs points; at zero you cannot move. Earn points any way you can until the round ends.
  8. Memory challenge. At the Reception desk, four screens show colored spheres in an order: use them in the same order.
  9. Friendly fire challenge. For a round, players can hurt each other, and nobody may be downed by a teammate. In solo, AI characters spawn and can hurt you; killing them gives a free weapon upgrade.
  10. Numbers game. In the Tidal Generator room, match the bottom row of numbers to the top row: the first changes with boost slams that hit zombies (Exo Slam), the second with jumps, the third with wall purchases, the fourth with kills.
  11. Rocket challenge. For a round, every player gets a MAHEM with unlimited ammunition and may kill zombies only with it.
  12. Oz’s memory. Use the terminal of the Tidal Generator room again. The crew lands in Oz’s memory of the courtyard of Outbreak, and the player who plays Lennox plays Oz instead. Hold out through two waves, with a conversation between them.

After the second wave, the game restarts in Double Feature, and the achievement unlocks.

The rewards

Double Feature

The hardcore mode of Descent, unlocked for good.

The experimental Upgrade Station

In the hidden room of the Tidal Generator. It takes a Mk 20 weapon to Mk 25, with the Diamond camouflage.

The silver trident

One of the seven slots of the trophy table at the Reception.

Double Feature

Double Feature is a hardcore version of Exo Zombies, played in black and white. Once Reunion is done, it starts from a keypad in the spawn, which every player of the game must use.

The keypad

On a wall of the Landing, it starts Double Feature once every player has used it.

  • No heads-up display except the points, and no name over teammates.
  • A downed player dies at once, so Exo Medic is disabled.
  • Zombies have 75% more health and give points only when killed, which favors one-shot weapons such as the Blunderbuss.
  • The main quest is disabled, and an upgrade costs 1,500 points.

Defeating the mutated Oz in Double Feature earns the golden trident of the trophy table.

In the First Room

Reunion cannot be played in a First Room game: its first step is in the Tidal Generator, at the far end of the resort. Double Feature, on the other hand, starts from the keypad of the Landing and opens no door.
