The Spoon

On Blood of the Dead, the melee weapon goes through four stages: the Spoon, the Golden Spork, the Golden Scalpel and the Golden Spork Knife. The Spoon needs the Spectral Shield and the Hell’s Retriever:

In the Warden’s Office, look at the three pillars through the shield: each one shows a number. The pillar closest to the Tonic machine is the first of the code.
At the bottom of the Citadel Tunnels, wake the keypad behind the padlocked grate with a Spirit Blast and enter the three numbers. The nearby lift drops.
At the Docks, fire a Spirit Blast at the voltmeter by a Mystery Box spot. The crane fishes a net out of the sea with the skeleton from the lift.
Throw the Hell’s Retriever at the skeleton to cut off its arm. The Spoon falls on the crate below the crane.

Woken by a Spirit Blast at its voltmeter, it raises a net out of the bay, with the skeleton inside when the code is right.

Spoon

A much stronger melee than the knife, but above all the key to the next steps.

The Golden Spork

Place the Spoon in the empty bathtub of the Infirmary, near the KN-57.
On the Roof, kill zombies with the Acidgat or the Magmagat. Blood drips from the ceiling into the tub below.
When the tub is full, interact with it to drain it.
From the Catwalk, shoot away the supports on the legs of the water tower outside the map until it collapses.
From the middle of the Catwalk, throw the Hell’s Retriever at the branch at the foot of the fallen tower. It brings back the Golden Spork, equipped at once.

One player can do the shared steps, but each player picks up their own Spoon, places it in the tub and throws at the branch.

The reward of the second stage, a far stronger melee weapon than the Spoon.

The Golden Scalpel

Each player who wants it needs the Golden Spork, the Spectral Shield and the Hell’s Redeemer:

Kill zombies with the Spork until the tub of New Industries fills with blood, then give the Spork to the skeletal hand in it.
Collect three coloured stones with the Redeemer: a green one outside a window of D-Block, a blue one in the net of the Docks, raised again with the crane, and a red one on a roof near the Warden’s House.
Place the stones under the three traps of the map, the Acid Trap of the Cafeteria, the fan trap of the Warden’s Office and the spinning trap of New Industries, and kill zombies with each trap until the stones become gems.
Take the fast travel from the Cafeteria to the Transverse Tunnel, turn around as soon as it stops and throw the Redeemer through the grate, on the right wall: a golden nugget falls out.
Bring the three gems and the nugget to the forge of New Industries to create the Golden Scalpel.

Golden Scalpel

As strong as the Spork; it only matters as a step towards the last upgrade.

The Golden Spork Knife

Give the Golden Scalpel to the skeletal hand of the tub.
A sign in the middle of the Catwalk now carries the prison number of Sal DeLuca. Bring a Warden near it and finish him with a melee attack: the number falls.
Interact with the tub one last time. The hand rises with the Golden Spork Knife.

Golden Spork Knife

The Spork and the Scalpel bound together with the gems: it kills a zombie in one hit at any round, except on Realistic, where it takes two from round 28.
