The Chrysalax is the Wonder Weapon of Forsaken, a weapon of the Dark Aether that the lore says was forged by Sparagmos to kill the Forsaken. It has two forms, switched at the press of a button, and Pack-a-Punched it becomes the Tenebris.

Storm

The hilt folds into a front grip and the weapon fires rapid energy shots; each shot can turn a zombie into an Aetherium Crystal bomb. Its kills drop Energetic Shards, the throwing blades of the Savager. Upgraded: Tenebris Cor Meum.

Savager

An Aetherial battle-axe that cuts through several zombies with each swing and can throw a spinning energy blade. Its kills can drop Volatile Crystals, the ammunition of the Storm, and it leeches health and armor from what it hits. Upgraded: Tenebris Anima.

Buying ammo refills both forms at once, so it pays to empty the one in hand and the other before going to an Ammo Cache.

Without building it

Mystery Box

It is in the Box from the start of the game, and several players of the same team can pull one.

Trials

It is a common Legendary reward of the Trials machine in the Observation Tower, after a few trials in a row.

Arcade

The gold chest of the Der Eisendrache arcade game can hold it.

Bubby

The chest that Bubby drops after his defense can hold it too.

Building it

The three parts only appear once Pyrrhic Victory has begun, with the second red button of the Observation Tower.

  1. Polymorphic Crystal Core: two rounds after the cutscene, it falls into Jim’s Donuts on Main Street, near Juggernog. Stay close to it and kill three waves in turn, Plaguehounds, Tempests, then Mimics, until its shield drops.
  2. Tempered Crystal Heart: kill a Tormentor with fire, such as the Flamethrower Support or the Ring of Fire field upgrade.
  3. Energetic Geode: let an Abomination hit one of the small Dark Aether Crystals of the map with its energy beam, instead of breaking the crystal yourself.
  4. Forging: put the three parts in the pool of liquid behind the Krig 6 wall buy in the Particle Accelerator. Zombies near the pool start to glow; kill about ten of them with melee to finish the weapon, then pick it up.
