The First Room

The Holding Cells at the start of a game, a dim prison corridor with a wet floor, a red-lit barred wall and an open doorway on the left, and a lit cell behind bars on the right, Terminus, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of Terminus is the part of Blacksite 13 that the crew reaches from the cells, every door shut. The game starts in the Holding Cells, the prison block where the former members of Requiem were held for six years; from there the players walk into the Guard Station, where Peck and Strauss hole up, and out onto the Security Overlook, an open-air area with a flight of stairs under a guard tower. The minimap names these three areas.

The ways out stay shut: the doors on to the Interrogation Rooms, next to the cells, and to the Control Center, past the Security Overlook. Game8 also lists a door buy at the Elevator; the Maglev elevator at the back of the spawn area goes down to the Bio Lab. No source gives the price of these first doors. Like on every map of Black Ops 6, each player starts with a weapon of their own loadout.

GS45, Gunsmith render, Terminus, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

GS45

750 Essence, an Uncommon pistol on a wall of the Holding Cells, the only wall weapon of the First Room.

Dropped weapons

The official guide advises looking on the floor of the Guard Station for a Common weapon dropped by a Project Janus guard. Fandom names the two guns the guards drop, the XM4 and the Jackal PDW, whose rarity rises with the round.

The first AMP Generator, a metal cabinet marked 01, in the Guard Station, Terminus, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

The AMP Generator

The first of the three generators of the island stands in the Guard Station. Once started, it has to be defended for 30 seconds while it powers this part of the facility. On the No Support and With Support boards it may not be turned on.

A Tentacle Trap

Fandom lists one among the utilities of the starting area. Its tentacles grab the zombies in a doorway for 750 Essence, but according to Fandom a Tentacle Trap only works once the AMP Generator nearby has powered its area.

Rampage Inducer

The console that, once every player has agreed, speeds up the rounds and raises the difficulty. Record footage shows it started in the Guard Station on the first round.

GobbleGum Machine and Ammo Cache

Both outside, on the Security Overlook.

No perk, no Box

The Fandom list of the starting area names no perk machine, no Mystery Box, no Crafting Table and no Arsenal. The nearest perk, Quick Revive, is in the Interrogation Rooms, behind a door.

Enemies

Zombies at first; the official guide warns that round 5 is the first special round. Human Janus guards may also be met, shooting at the zombies before they turn on the players.

The Terminus leaderboard keeps five categories, each with boards for solo and for two, three and four players. Purist is the reference and the board shown first; the four others, No Support and With Support, each played with No GobbleGums or All GobbleGums, count in the player ratings with a lower difficulty. How a round of Black Ops 6 compares with a round of the older games is explained in Black Ops 6: Rounds. The rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest round you can without opening doors, and play every round in full.

Purist

No Field Upgrade, no Crafting Table, no Arsenal, no GobbleGum, no Support, no perk and no Mystery Box. Each player keeps only the Self-Revive they start the game with.

The AMP Generator

On the No Support and With Support boards, the AMP Generator of the spawn may not be turned on.

No Support

No Support, nothing from the Support section of the Crafting Table and no armor bought at the workbench; armor plates may be picked up or bought on the wall. Avoid picking up a scorestreak. In solo, only the starting Self-Revive; in co-op, up to three Self-Revives per player, dropped by the zombies, not crafted.

GobbleGums

On the All GobbleGums boards every gum is allowed, but not a timed-out gum. On the No GobbleGums boards only Anywhere But Here is tolerated, to get unstuck, with a timestamp; keeping the three Whimsical gums is advised, since one taken by mistake does not void the run.

With Support

The support items and scorestreaks may all be used.

No glitch

Glitches and exploits are not allowed. Saving and quitting or crashing the game to void a down, a Dying Wish or a game over is not allowed either.

Patch

Every game is played on the most recent patch, and a patch that changes the balance of the game can lead to a board being reset.

Video

The whole game must be recorded, with every player’s point of view in co-op on every board but With Support, All GobbleGums. A Twitch video must be saved as a highlight, since past broadcasts are not accepted; a YouTube video must be public or unlisted.

Overview

Terminus is one of the two Zombies maps that came out with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024, alongside Liberty Falls, and, in story order, the first chapter of the Dark Aether story of Black Ops 6. The mission briefing sums it up: “A jailbreak on a secluded island pits unlikely partners against the undead.”

Terminus Island was a coal mine abandoned in the 1930s, then a forward base of the US Navy, mothballed until 1965, when the CIA turned it into a secret prison. Project Janus took it over in 1986 and dug a laboratory into the old mining caves. The map holds a prison complex on the main island, a laboratory under it, the Sea Tower, and a ring of smaller islands and a shipwreck reached by tactical raft.

Amalgams

Elite enemies made of several zombies fused together, from round 16. They stretch an arm to grab and bite a player; their heads are their weak spots, and electric damage hurts them.

Vermin

And Parasites: on Terminus a Vermin only comes out of the corpse of a zombie that was not killed by a critical hit, and a Vermin left alive long enough turns into a Parasite.

Manglers

Heavy brutes with an arm cannon.

Janus Security

Human guards met at random when a new area opens, who shoot at the zombies first and at the players once no zombie is left near them.

Zombies come with Armored and Heavy Zombies. Round 5 is the first special round, where the official guide warns that the special enemies start to appear. The main quest adds two bosses: Nathan, an Amalgam stronger than the others, and Patient 13.

Weapons

Thirteen weapons hang on the walls, all of Uncommon rarity, from the GS45 of the Holding Cells for 750 Essence to the PU-21 and the XMG for 2,250. The Mystery Box, 950 Essence a spin, adds the rest of the Black Ops 6 arsenal, the Ray Gun and the wonder weapon of the map.

DRI-11 Beamsmasher

The wonder weapon, built by the Janus scientist Anya Tonovsky. It fires a directed energy beam, and its sonic pulse slows every zombie it hits, bosses included. From the Box, or built for free once the whole island has power. Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the Supersonic Crusher.

AMP Generators and Pack-a-Punch

There is no power switch: three AMP Generators, the Aetherium Maturation Pods, each power their own part of the facility. The first is in the Guard Station, the second in the Living Quarters, the third in the Bio Lab, at the heart of the laboratory. With the three on, the whole island has power, and the Pack-a-Punch can be raised from the water of the Bio Lab.

The Tentacle Trap in action, red tentacles hanging from a doorway, Terminus, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Tentacle Trap

750 Essence. Tentacles grab every zombie in a doorway; a player who walks through is caught too, unless they slide under them.

The Void Cannon Trap, a twin-barreled gun on its platform at night, Terminus, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Void Cannon Trap

1,750 Essence. It lifts the zombies into a void, and can carry a player to another part of the map.

Easter egg: No Mo‘ Modi

The main quest finds Nathan, captures Modi’s submarine and ends with the fight against Patient 13. It needs the power of the three generators and the DRI-11 Beamsmasher. Its steps:

  1. Shoot the right Tentacle Trap with the Beamsmasher to drop a hard drive, and bring it to Peck in the Guard Station.
  2. Find the three digits of Nathan’s pod, from a clock, a playing card and a safety sign, and open the pod in the Bio Lab.
  3. Defeat Nathan, turned into an Amalgam, and pick up the keycard he leaves in the water.
  4. Fetch Node Connectors in the Shipwreck and repair the island’s communications, which wakes up S.A.M.
  5. Hack three buoys from a raft against the clock, then disarm Modi’s warheads in the Bio Lab in five minutes.
  6. Take the door by Melee Macchiato to the pier and defeat Patient 13 in three phases.

Secrets

Can You Hear Me?

Three pairs of Mister Peeks headphones start the song of the map.

Treasure Hunter

The skeleton of a ghost pirate sends the players after three cursed coins and a talisman that doubles the Essence earned.

Culinary Delight

A fish cooked in the Mess Hall with five strange ingredients.

The Mega-Stuffy

Six stuffed toys hidden on the islands come together into a pet that fights the zombies.

The elevator jumpscare

Jumping in the Maglev elevator at the back of the spawn stops it in the dark, among glowing eyes.

Trivia

  • The game files call the map zm_t10_quartz.
  • In the opening cutscene, the guard listens to a recording of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Boots”, then to a rock song that is an instrumental version of “Pareidolia”.
  • The announcer is S.A.M., imitating the voice of the Forsaken.
  • Played as one of the crew, the Janus guards shout that the prisoners are escaping; played as an Operator, they do not recognize the player.
  • The Starting Room mode of Season Four Reloaded locked every player in the starting area of the map; Terminus was the only map where its reward came at round 30 instead of round 40.
