Black Ops 6 brought Zombies back to round-based maps after the open world of Modern Warfare III, and carried on the Dark Aether story of Black Ops Cold War. Its crew, Weaver, Grey, Carver and Maya, fights Project Janus and the rogue intelligence S.A.M. across six maps, from a prison island to the towers of Janus itself.

Terminus and Liberty Falls came out with the game, then Citadelle des Morts, The Tomb, Shattered Veil and Reckoning in the free seasonal updates. Every one of them has its First Room board here, from solo to four players.

The First Room in Black Ops 6: Purist

Black Ops 6 gives a team more help than any Zombies game before it. The Purist category takes it all away: the run is played with the starting loadout and nothing else, every door shut.

No perk

No Mystery Box, no GobbleGum.

No Field Upgrade

The Energy Mine, the Aether Shroud or the Frost Blast stay unused.

No Arsenal and no Crafting Table

No Ammo Mod, no rarity upgrade, no equipment built from salvage.

One Self-Revive

The one each player starts with, and no Support.

Few players have taken on the category so far, and its records are far from pushed. That is why Black Ops 6 counts for 70% in the overall ZFRR rating, and why its difficulty coefficients will be reviewed as the boards fill up.

What Black Ops 6 Zombies brings

Two currencies

Essence opens doors and buys perks, wall weapons, armor and Pack-a-Punch; Salvage pays the Arsenal and the Crafting Table.

Augments

A research tree for every perk, Ammo Mod and Field Upgrade, with three minor and three major augments each.

GobbleGums are back

For the first time since Black Ops III: a pack of five chosen before the game, handed out by the machine.

Armor

Tier II and Tier III vests bought on the walls, plates picked up or crafted.

Weapon rarity

Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary, each step stronger, bought at the Arsenal.

Pack-a-Punch

In three tiers, and a Directed Mode that guides a team through the main quest.

Terminus

(October 25, 2024): a Project Janus prison on an island of the Philippine Sea. The First Room is the Holding Cells.

Liberty Falls

(October 25, 2024): a small town of West Virginia the day after the breach. The First Room is East Main Street.

Citadelle des Morts

(December 5, 2024, Season 1 Reloaded): a castle in the Principality of Avalon. The First Room is the Town Square.

The Tomb

(January 28, 2025, Season 2): an excavation of Roman ruins in Avalon. The First Room is the Dig Site.

Shattered Veil

(April 2, 2025, Season 3): Sam Colton Hall, a mansion of Liberty Falls. The First Room is the garden, by the pond.

Reckoning

(August 7, 2025, Season 5): the Janus Towers. The First Room is the reception of the first tower.

Trivia

Day one on Game Pass. Black Ops 6 came out in Xbox Game Pass, on console and PC, the day it was released.
Three studios on PC. Treyarch made Zombies and multiplayer, Raven Software the campaign, and Beenox led the Windows version.
A game of its own on Steam. The game left the Call of Duty launcher in July 2026 and became a standalone title.
