The First Room

The Project Janus Reception, the lobby of Tower 1, with the Janus logo on the floor, the reception desk and the burning upper floors, lobby screen, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of Reckoning is the T1 Project Janus Reception, the lobby on the ground floor of Tower 1 where every game begins: a tall hall under burning upper floors, with the Janus logo set in the floor, a reception desk at the top of a few steps, a row of metal detectors and a gallery that runs around it. Like on every map of Black Ops 6, each player starts with the weapon of their own loadout.

The Reception has two doors to buy, one at its east end and one at its west end. Each opens onto an Aetheric Elevator Shaft: the east one rises to the Mutant Research Lab, the west one to the Quantum Computing Core. A written guide gives 1750 Essence for the way up to the Mutant Research Lab; no source checked gives the price of the other door with certainty. In a First Room game neither is ever bought, and the rest of Janus Towers, the launchers, Tower 2 and the Pack-a-Punch, all stay out of reach.

GS45

750 Essence, a pistol at Uncommon rarity, the only wall weapon of the Reception.

Quick Revive

The only perk machine of the Reception. Like every perk of Black Ops 6, it costs from 2500 to 7500 Essence depending on the perks already owned. Perks are not allowed in Purist.

Level II Armor Vest

4000 Essence, on a wall of the Reception, which also has an Ammo Cache and a GobbleGum Machine. The Level III vest is in Sublevel 10.

Rampage Inducer

Next to the broken door of the Reception washroom. Switched on, it makes the zombies spawn faster and move faster, up to round 55.

The red portal

A portal of the Reception that stays dead until the power is restored in Sublevel 10, and then links the two both ways. Doors closed, it never opens.

What stays out of reach

No Crafting Table and no Arsenal, the nearest being in the Quantum Computing Core and the Mutant Research Lab, and no Mystery Box: none of the Box spots given by the official guide is in the Reception.

Enemies

Zombies, then the special and elite enemies of the map as the rounds climb: Armored, Heavy and Toxic Zombies, Manglers, Vermin, Parasites, Doppelghasts, Kommando Klaus and, from round 16, the Uber Klaus. The footage of the two-player Purist record shows Parasites flying over the Reception at round 33.

The Reckoning leaderboard keeps five categories, each with boards for solo and for two, three and four players. Purist is the reference and opens by default. Two groups follow, No Support and With Support, each split into No GobbleGums and All GobbleGums; they count in the player ratings with a lower difficulty. How a round of Black Ops 6 compares with a round of the older games is explained in Black Ops 6: Rounds. The rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest round you can without opening doors, and play every round in full. Glitches and exploits are not allowed in any category.

Purist

The starting loadout and nothing else. No perk, no Mystery Box, no GobbleGum, no Field Upgrade, no Arsenal, no Crafting Table and no Support, and no Self-Revive beyond the one each player starts with.

No Support

No scorestreak, and nothing from the Support section of the Crafting Table; picking up a scorestreak should be avoided. Armor plates are picked up or bought on the wall, never at the workbench. In solo, only the starting Self-Revive; in co-op, up to three per player, dropped by zombies.

With Support

Every support item may be used.

GobbleGums

On the No GobbleGums boards, the only gum allowed is Anywhere But Here, to get unstuck, with a timestamp; keeping the three Whimsical gums in the pack is advised, as one used by mistake does not void the run. On the All GobbleGums boards every gum is allowed, but not the timed-out gum.

Black Ops 6

Every game is played on the latest patch. Saving and quitting or crashing the game to void a down, a Dying Wish or a game over is not allowed, and a patch that changes the balance of the game can reset a board.

Video

The whole game must be recorded, with every player’s point of view in co-op on every board but With Support, All GobbleGums, whose rules do not ask for it. A Twitch video must be saved as a highlight, since past broadcasts are not accepted; a YouTube video must be public or unlisted.

Overview

Reckoning is the sixth and last Zombies map of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and the end of the Dark Aether story the game began on Terminus. It came out for free on August 7, 2025, with the Season 5 update. The mission briefing: “Project Janus HQ teeters on the verge of collapse. Stabilize the Aether Reactors. Unleash the Sentinel Artifact. Complete the mission that began on Terminus Island.”

Players1 to 4

Janus Towers are the headquarters of Project Janus, three towers on the hills above Liberty Falls, close to Sam Colton Hall. The crew comes from that mansion, where it charged the Sentinel Artifact for S.A.M. in Shattered Veil, only to learn from Richtofen what S.A.M. means to do with it: rebuild the body of Samantha Maxis and live in it. The towers have been overrun since S.A.M.’s outbreak nine days before, and every creature Project Janus kept inside them is loose.

Besides the standard game, the map is played in Directed Mode, which guides a team through the main quest and stops its rounds at 15, in Grief and in Team Cranked.

Characters

The players are the crew of the last maps, Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie Carver and Maya Aguinaldo, or the Operators of the loadout. Around them:

S.A.M. in the body of Samantha Maxis, touching her face for the first time, ending cutscene, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

S.A.M.

The Synaptic Algorithm Module, the rogue intelligence of Project Janus, who led the crew from map to map. She also plays the announcer, in the voice of the Forsaken.

Edward Richtofen looking up under a swirling blue sky, ending cutscene, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Edward Richtofen

The director of Requiem who founded Project Janus, now on the crew’s side against S.A.M. He wants the Artifact to bring back his wife and son.

P

Pericles Panos and John Blanchard

The creator of the Gorgofex, now a spirit, and the security chief of Project Janus, locked in his office. Each asks the crew to turn against the other.

T

The Forsaken

Kazimir Zykov, a prisoner of Project Janus since 1985, kept in a containment chamber of the towers that the outbreak of S.A.M. damaged. He is killed for good during the Gorgofex quest.

William Peck, Oskar Strauss and Raptor One are heard as well, and the Dark Aether versions of Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and Richtofen appear in the last cutscene.

Enemies

Reckoning brings back zombies, Armored, Heavy and Toxic Zombies, Manglers, Elder Disciples, Vermin, Parasites and Doppelghasts, and adds two robots built by Project Janus on the model of Klaus, the robot of Mauer der Toten.

A Kommando Klaus, a robot with glowing orange eyes and a burning core in its chest, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Kommando Klaus

The special-round enemy of the map. They fly slowly straight at the nearest player and blow themselves up next to him. Their weak spot is the glowing core in the chest, and Cryofreeze stops them.

An Uber Klaus, a heavy robot suit with two shoulder coils and the Klaus core behind its glass cockpit, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Uber Klaus

The elite enemy, from round 16. A heavy suit that fires arcing electric bolts which ignore armor, punches and leaps. Once it is hurt, the two coils on its shoulders raise a shield; with the coils shot, the cockpit can be broken.

The core of an Uber Klaus, a thin black robot that walks on once its suit is destroyed, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Uber Klaus core

When the suit is destroyed, the robot inside walks out and keeps firing electricity, then starts a self-destruct sequence when it is nearly dead.

Special rounds

The Kommando Klaus come in swarms, which is how they wear a team down.

Perks

Reckoning has more perk machines than any other map of Black Ops 6: every perk of the game has its own, except Death Perception, sold only by Der Wunderfizz. A perk costs from 2500 to 7500 Essence, more for each one already owned.

Quick Revive

In the Reception, at the start.

Speed Cola and Melee Macchiato

On the floor of the Quantum Computing Core and Lab.

Deadshot Daiquiri and PhD Flopper

In the Mutant Research Lab and its Test Area.

Double Tap and Der Wunderfizz

In the Android Assembly of Tower 2. A second Wunderfizz stands in the second vault of Tower 3.

Stamin-Up

In the Dark Entity Containment.

Juggernog and Elemental Pop

At the top of Tower 1, in the Executive Suite and the Director’s Office.

Vulture Aid

In Sublevel 10, under Tower 2.

Weapons

Ten weapons hang on the walls, all Uncommon, from the GS45 of the Reception for 750 Essence to the XMG of Sublevel 10 for 2250. The Mystery Box adds the rest of the arsenal, the Ray Gun, the Ray Gun Mark II and the wonder weapon of the map.

The Gorgofex, a green living pistol with an orange glowing body and a metal muzzle, menu render, Reckoning, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Gorgofex

The wonder weapon, a living hand cannon whose charged shot lifts the zombies into a gravity anomaly. From the Box or from a free quest that ends with the death of the Forsaken. It cannot be Pack-a-Punched as it is, but it turns into the Gorgofex C or the Gorgofex N.

Getting around and the Pack-a-Punch

Janus Towers are crossed upward: Aetheric Elevator Shafts carry the players from floor to floor, Anti-Grav Personnel Launchers throw them from one tower to the next, the holes in the floors of Tower 1 can be jumped with a parachute, and red portals link the far ends of the map. The power is the Particle Accelerator of Sublevel 10, reached by a portal from the top of Tower 1; once restarted and cleared of its Aetherium crystals, it gives the Pack-a-Punch.

The towers, the power and the Pack-a-Punch

Easter egg: the Sentinel Artifact

The main quest carries the Sentinel Artifact to the top of Tower 3 and ends with a choice between Richtofen and S.A.M. It needs the Pack-a-Punch and the Gorgofex. Its steps:

  1. Take a DNA vial from the Mutant Research Lab and open the teleporter of the Teleportation Lab with the Mutant Injection of Doctor Fowler.
  2. Reboot the Particle Accelerator with the code of the S.A.M. Files, and open the Bio-Aetheric Portal with a charged Gorgofex.
  3. Clean and feed the Fungal Head, and build Franken-Klaus from the parts of Kommando Klaus.
  4. Catch four items with the Vacuum-Seal Devices and link the portal to Tower 3.
  5. Ride the Lift of Tower 3, then fight S.A.M. or Richtofen on the roof.

The main quest, step by step

Secrets

Three songs

Remember Us, behind three Mister Peeks headphones, Samantha’s Peace, at the metal detectors of the Reception, and a remix of Samantha’s Soul, behind three pool balls.

Free perks

A trail of hoops to glide through from the top of Tower 1, and a high score at the Vermin step of the main quest, each give a Random Perk.

The Aether Blade

A safe behind a painting of the Director’s Office, opened after three paintings, an ARC-XD and a Mister Peeks.

The golden trash can

Four trash cans full of loot, then a golden one at the spawn.

The songs, the free perks and the other secrets

Challenges

Reckoning has no achievement or trophy of its own. The map rewards calling cards: Reckoning – Standard Quest Complete and Reckoning Complete in Directed Mode for the main quest, and Involuntary Harm, a Dark Ops challenge added with the map: get an Uber Klaus killed by the blast of an Uber Klaus core.

Trivia

  • The game files call the map zm_t10_jade.
  • Sam Colton Hall, the mansion of Shattered Veil, can be seen almost whole from the roof of Tower 3, and some roofs of Liberty Falls from the balcony of the Executive Suite.
  • A map in Terminus places the Janus Towers in Georgia rather than near Liberty Falls in West Virginia.
  • Reckoning was followed by Ashes of the Damned, in Black Ops 7, where a version of the Janus Towers plaza stands in the Dark Aether.
  • Kommando Klaus can say they are very experienced in exploding, a nod to what was thought to be the end of Klaus in the Mauer der Toten quest.
