Mad Hatter

The song of IX is Mad Hatter, by Avenged Sevenfold, written for the Zombies of Black Ops 4 and released on September 17, 2018. In the map, four coins, one in each tower, start it when shot:

The red coin

In the Burial Chamber of the Ra Tower, behind a chest to the right of the Mystery Box spot.

The green coin

In the entrance of the Danu Tower, under a wooden platform outside the barrier at the foot of the stairs.

The blue coin

In the entrance of the Odin Tower, on a wall behind the grate around the corner from the stairs.

The pink coin

In the Zeus Altar Room, on the side of the base of a statue, near the Mystery Box spot and the Titan wall buy.

The Viking of Odin

A Viking lies in a boat in the Odin Altar Room. Giving him back his belongings earns a free perk, beyond the limit of the loadout:

  1. Find the helmet on the spear stand of the Odin Tower entrance, the sword in a hole of The Crypts near the KN-57 wall buy, and the cup in front of the stairs of the Ra Burial Chamber, at the Danu-Ra Temple Entrance.
  2. Place them on the Viking: the helmet on his head, the sword on his body, the cup at his mouth.
  3. From the Zeus Altar Room, throw a Wraith Fire on the boat, which keeps burning.
  4. Seven rounds later, a power-up that looks like Odin appears on the boat. It gives a random perk.

Fire immunity

A hidden challenge makes the players safe from the traps and the fire of the map. Build the Acid Trap, kill each kind of Catalyst and a Zombie Tiger with it, slide under a spike log without taking damage, then slide under the running Acid Trap without taking damage. A sound confirms it. From then on, the traps no longer down the player at once, and after one burn in a fire area, that area stops hurting for the rest of the round.

The scrolls

Eight scrolls hidden around the map hold the recordings of two earlier prisoners of the arena, Reginald Barton, an American looking for the Holy Grail, and his German guide, the mercenary Bitten Bradfisch. Like the Chaos crew, they inhaled fumes and woke up as gladiators. Barton lists the four towers, „four gods, four types of worship“, and wonders how gods who never knew of each other can stand side by side.

Hidden details

The wave

A Homunculus thrown out of the map towards the stands makes the crowd cheer and start a wave.

Gauntlet

Veni, Vidi, Zombie! is the Gauntlet of IX: thirty rounds, each with its own rule, such as sacrificing nine Gladiators on the podium on round 9, or surviving nine minutes on round 19.
