Venerated Warrior

The main quest of IX is Venerated Warrior. The Chaos crew completes the trial of the High Priest and calls down the most venerated warrior of the arena, two zombified war elephants. It works from Normal difficulty and with any number of players. The Death of Orion is needed, and the Hellion Salvo and the Homunculus help a lot.

Blood Must Flow

The first step is to open the Pack-a-Punch with the heads of the four champions, and to build the Brazen Bull on the way. Three challenges of a banner also give the cauldron of the Acid Trap.

Purge the Blight

Three ingredients make a fertilizer:

Bone powder

A special weapon frees the skull marked with a blue symbol from a wall of the Temple. In the grinder of the Flooded Crypt, three charged shots of the Death of Orion grind it.

Charcoal

In the Arena, a Destroyer throws its axe at one of the two wooden pyres and knocks a piece of wood off. Set in the cauldron of the Odin Tower, it burns for two full rounds.

Dung

Thrown by the crowd at full thumbs down. Running through the fire or throwing grenades at the stands gets there fast.

  1. Place the three items in the bowl on the lowest floor of the Zeus Tower, in the Bath House, and wait two full rounds.
  2. Lay the fertilizer between the two trees of the Arboretum, at the bottom of the Danu Tower, and wait two more full rounds, until it smokes green.
  3. Kill an enemy over it with the Fire Bomb effect of a repacked weapon. Blue cracks open in the ground.
  4. All players stand on the cracks for about fifteen seconds and are taken to a black and white version of the Danu Tower. Destroy the three red pods, one on each floor, to come back.

Answer the Dawn

  1. Bull symbols appear around the map, among nine spots. Set four of them on fire with the gun of the Brazen Bull. Each one brings a Gladiator: kill it so that the statue of Ra takes its soul.
  2. At the obelisk of the Ra Altar Room, four symbols light up in order. Kill the special enemies they show in the same order. A wrong kill means trying again.
  3. Do it a second time with four new symbols.

Summon the Storm

  1. Interact with the stone of the challenge podium, in the middle of the Arena: everyone drops underground.
  2. Shoot the four poles of the Danu Tunnel, the Odin Tunnel, the Cursed Room and the Collapsed Tunnel until they rise out of the ground.
  3. Back in the Arena, four electric circles glow in its corners. Stun enemies with the Kill-O-Watt effect and kill them inside the circles to charge the poles.
  4. When the poles are charged, orbs appear in the bowls of the podium. Every player takes one: the special weapons become unlimited and Gladiators flood the Arena. Survive and kill them all.

Channel the Flood

  1. Nine blue symbols appear underground, in three sets of three: in the Danu Tunnel, in The Pit and in The Crypts. Each set lights up with a single shot of the wonder weapon fired from the right angle. A lit symbol stays lit.
  2. All players stand on the metal plate behind the grate of The Pit, next to the workbench of the shield, for about twenty seconds, until a sound of gears.
  3. They are taken to a closed room and fight waves of zombies and special enemies, Blightfathers among them. At the end, a key waits at the grate.

Fury and Wrath

A red portal opens in the Arena, across from the tunnel of the start. Every player uses it to start the boss fight.

First wave

Zombie Tigers and Gladiators pour in. Max Ammos drop during the fight.

Fury

A zombified war elephant comes out of a great gate. Shoot the weak spots on its sides to break its armor, then shoot its forehead until it falls. Its charge hits hard: keep the shield up and keep moving.

Wrath

The second elephant comes out of the other gate. It is beaten the same way, and its death starts the last cutscene.

The ending

A portal opens in the Arena and the High Priest reaches into it, but it collapses and burns his hand and face. Scarlett invokes the Novum Ignotum proclamation, which should grant the crew clemency. The Priest calls her an ignorant slave, she spits in his face, and he has the four of them led to the executioner. The quest unlocks the achievement Venerated Warrior and, for the rest of the session, the doors of the other maps open for free, except on Alpha Omega and Tag der Toten.
