The First Room

The ground floor of the farmhouse at the spawn, with the lit MP-40 weapon locker in the stone wall on the left and a table on the right, Gröesten Haus, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of Gröesten Haus is the whole farmhouse. The map has no door to buy: the players spawn on the ground floor, in front of the front door, and can walk both floors and both staircases from the first wave. The only room that stays closed is the secret Mystery Box room upstairs, which the leaderboard does not allow to open. Each player starts with the weapon, the Special and the mods of their own Zombies loadout, and the shovel.

The MP-40 hangs straight ahead of the spawn. To the left, a staircase climbs to the first floor; to the right, two doorways on either side of a fireplace lead to the kitchen, the right-hand one through a small side room with the STG44 and the Geistschild machine. The second staircase climbs from the kitchen to the Combat Shotgun, and a hallway upstairs links the two staircases past the Random Blitz and the doors of the secret room.

MP-40

1,000 Jolts, a submachine gun, in the weapon locker straight ahead of the spawn.

STG44

1,500 Jolts, an assault rifle, in the small side room by the fireplace, next to the Geistschild.

Combat Shotgun

1,000 Jolts, a pump-action shotgun, upstairs, at the top of the kitchen staircase.

Those three weapon lockers are the only weapons for sale. Without the secret room there is no Mystery Box, so a First Room game is played with them, the starting weapon and the power-ups.

Geistschild

500 Jolts for the first charge, then more after each purchase, up to 10,000. The only armor machine of the house, in the small side room of the ground floor, to the left of the STG44. Each charge absorbs one hit that would have downed the player, three charges at most.

Random Blitz

2,000 Jolts, upstairs, in the hallway between the two staircases. It grants one Blitz drawn at random, then needs about two minutes before it can be used again. There is no other Blitz machine on the map, so Lebenblitz only comes from it.

The secret room

Next to the Random Blitz, behind two closed doors. It holds the only Mystery Box of the map and opens once ten hidden lanterns have been shot. On this leaderboard it stays shut.

The kitchen

Through the doorway to the left of the fireplace: the dining table and the second staircase. Two of the ten lanterns hang here.

No door to buy

The house has no door, debris or barrier for sale: from wave 1, the players can use both floors and both staircases.

The enemies

Ordinary zombies. Wüstlings join them from wave 10, and a single Brenner arrives on wave 50.

The Gröesten Haus leaderboard keeps separate boards for solo and for two, three and four players. Its rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest wave you can without opening any door or barrier. Opening the Mystery Box room is not allowed.

Two categories

No Consumables, the reference board, where consumables are not allowed, and With Consumables. Both take solo, two, three and four players.

Full waves

Every wave must be played in full. Glitches and exploits are not allowed, and so is going down on purpose to block the zombies’ path.

Video

The whole game must be recorded and the lobby shown before the map is launched. In No Consumables, every player of a co-op game must record their own point of view.

Where to post it

A Twitch video must be saved as a highlight, since past broadcasts are not accepted; a YouTube video must be public or unlisted.

Overview

Gröesten Haus, usually translated as « Biggest House », is the bonus survival map of the Nazi Zombies mode of Call of Duty: WWII. It takes place in the farmhouse of the Prologue, where Marie Fischer holds out alone after the attack on the crew’s train, and opens it to four players with no main quest: only the waves. The mission briefing: « Sometimes the best plan is to lock the doors and wait until morning. »

Compared to the Prologue, which can only be played alone, Gröesten Haus adds two weapon lockers, the STG44 and the Combat Shotgun, replaces the Lebenblitz machine upstairs with the Random Blitz, and adds a hidden Easter egg that upgrades the Mystery Box. Its Wüstlings also come earlier: from wave 10 instead of wave 20.

The Hub has a book on the whole game: WWII.

Characters

The four playable characters are the agents of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program sent to Mittelburg.

M

Marie Fischer

The Austrian engineer who came to Mittelburg to save her brother Klaus. In the Prologue, she is the one who takes refuge in this farmhouse.

D

Drostan Hynd

The Scottish former art thief of the crew.

O

Olivia Durant

The former art historian of the Louvre, turned French Resistance fighter.

J

Jefferson Potts

The captain of the United States Army.

The unlockable characters of Nazi Zombies can also be played on the map. One of them is earned here: the Bloodraven Mountaineer, for the three challenges of the « Home Ward » set.

The three challenges of the Bloodraven Mountaineer

Enemies

Zombies

The undead German soldiers raised by the Geistkraft. They fill every wave.

Wüstlings

The brutes of Doctor Straub, with a spiked club for a right hand. They join the waves from wave 10, charge at the player who shoots them, and their weak spot is the back. Each one is worth 200 Jolts.

Brenner

A single one arrives on wave 50, a flamethrower on its right arm and a fuel tank on its back. Killing it is worth 800 Jolts and is one of the challenges of the Bloodraven Mountaineer.

Blitz

The Blitz are the perks of Nazi Zombies, given by an electric shock in the left hand. On Gröesten Haus, they all come from the Random Blitz, for 2,000 Jolts a draw, with about two minutes of cooldown. A player holds four Blitz at most; the machine can still be used with every slot full, and then replaces an older Blitz.

Lebenblitz

In solo, revives the player once downed, three times at most; in co-op, revives teammates faster.

Kugelblitz

Ballistic weapons deal double damage and fire faster.

Laufenblitz

Faster sprint and unlimited stamina.

Faustblitz

Double melee damage.

Schildblitz

Each reload sends out a burst of electricity that damages and stuns nearby zombies.

Schnellblitz

Faster reloads with every weapon.

Weapons

The players start with their own loadout. The house sells three weapons, all in the First Room, and the Mystery Box of the secret room holds most of the weapons of the game:

Weapon lockers

The MP-40 and the Combat Shotgun for 1,000 Jolts each, the STG44 for 1,500.

Mystery Box

1,000 Jolts a draw, in the secret room only. It holds 68 weapons of the game, the Crossbow among them, and the Jack-in-the-Box.

Jack-in-the-Box

A lure from the Mystery Box, which draws the zombies to it before it explodes. It is also the key to the Easter egg of the map.

Every weapon of the house and of the Mystery Box

The secret room

Ten lanterns are hidden in and around the house: four on the ground floor, four upstairs and two outside, seen through the windows. Each one shot plays a raven’s caw and lights a small purple flame. When all ten are lit, the two doors upstairs open on the room of the Mystery Box.

The ten lanterns and the Mystery Box room

Easter egg

Gröesten Haus has no Pack-a-Punch Machine. Instead, a hidden Easter egg upgrades the Mystery Box: once a Jack-in-the-Box has been thrown onto a hidden spot in the rafters outside the secret room and 10,000 Jolts have been paid at the piano, every weapon drawn from the box comes out already upgraded, for the same 1,000 Jolts.

Secrets

The Grüner Knoten camouflage, a gold Celtic knot pattern, Gröesten Haus, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Grüner Knoten

During the Operation Shamrock & Awe event, from March 13 to April 3, 2018, four hidden four-leaf clovers each took a 250-Jolt donation. The fourth brought out a Leprechaun Zombie, and killing it unlocked the animated Grüner Knoten camouflage. The clovers sat on a pile of books across from the MP-40, by the table across from the Combat Shotgun, on a pile of books in the STG44 room, and inside the secret room.

Bloodraven Mountaineer

A playable character unlocked by three challenges on this map, added on February 7, 2018.

Trivia

  • Gröesten Haus was revealed a few days before the release of the game, when early copies showed it next to The Final Reich in the Zombies menu.
  • No achievement or trophy is tied to Gröesten Haus. The closest one, Pressure Cooker, asks to reach wave 20 in the Prologue.
  • From May 29, 2018, during the Attack of the Undead event, the farmhouse also became a Multiplayer map under the same name, set in daytime with a new outdoor area.
