Call of Duty: WWII is a Second World War game by Sledgehammer Games, and its Zombies mode is called Nazi Zombies. It tells its own story, in an alternate 1945 where Doctor Peter Straub raises an undead army to change the outcome of the war. Marie Fischer, Drostan Hynd, Olivia Durant and Jefferson Potts, a crew sent to recover art stolen by the Nazis, end up hunting the pieces of the Sword of Barbarossa from Bavaria to Antarctica.

The game launched with the Prologue, played alone, and The Final Reich. Four DLC packs followed, each one first on PlayStation 4 and a month later on Xbox One and PC: The Darkest Shore, The Shadowed Throne, The Tortured Path and The Frozen Dawn. Four of them, along with the survival map Gröesten Haus, have their First Room board here, all in the no consumables category, from solo to four players.

The First Room in WWII

ZFRR tracks WWII in a single category: the run stays in the starting area, no door or barrier is opened and every wave is played in full. Consumables, the supply drop items a player can bring into a match, are not allowed.

Doors closed

No door or barrier is opened, and every wave is played in full.

No consumables

No power-up, weapon or discount brought in from the supply drops.

No human barrier

A player cannot go down on purpose to block the zombies’ path.

Gröesten Haus

The secret Mystery Box room stays shut.

The Darkest Shore

The horde on the beach before wave 1 can be cleared and brought back, but a Wüstling stuck out of reach voids the game.

No glitch or exploit

The game is played as it was designed.

What WWII Zombies brings

Jolts

The points of Nazi Zombies, earned on the zombies and spent on doors, weapons, traps and Blitz.

Blitz machines

The perks, given by an electric shock to the left hand, such as Lebenblitz, Kugelblitz or Schnellblitz.

Special abilities

Camouflage, Freefire, Frontline or Shellshock, chosen before the match and charged during it.

Raven Research mods

Upgrades for the special ability and the kit, sorted into the orders of the Raven Lords.

Geistschild

Armor that absorbs fatal hits, up to three.

Consumables

Up to two supply drop items per match, from a Max Ammo to a Bazooka.

The maps

The Final Reich

(November 3, 2017): the mining town of Mittelburg in Bavaria, and Straub’s bunker beneath it. The game starts in an alley at the Village Entrance.

Gröesten Haus

(base game, survival): the Prologue farmhouse, opened to co-op once The Final Reich’s main quest is done. The game starts on the ground floor, by the front door.

The Darkest Shore

(January 30, 2018 on PlayStation 4, The Resistance): the island fortress of Heligoland, in the North Sea. The game starts on the beach.

The Shadowed Throne

(April 10, 2018 on PlayStation 4, The War Machine): Berlin burning in April 1945. The game starts in the Underbelly, a basement.

The Frozen Dawn

(August 28, 2018 on PlayStation 4, Shadow War): the lost city of Thule, under the Antarctic ice, and the last map of the game. The game starts at the Crash Site.

Trivia

  • Army of the Dead. The Final Reich was called Army of the Dead before the game came out, as a leaked trailer showed.
  • From Zombies to Multiplayer. On May 29, 2018, Gröesten Haus came to Multiplayer in daylight, with a whole new area around the farmhouse.
  • A wave before wave 1. The Darkest Shore opens on a beach under attack: the swarm has to be cleared before wave 1 begins.
  • Hangman in Berlin. The sign above the Cabaret in The Shadowed Throne hides a playable game of Hangman.
