The First Room

East Main Street in the first round of a game: the two-storey Motor Lodge with its balcony, the Rest E-Z sign, the burning tanker truck and the tracked Dark Aether Field Generator trap, Liberty Falls, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of Liberty Falls is the east end of the town, where every game begins: the Abandoned Rooftop where the players appear, the Pump & Pay gas station and its roof, East Main Street and the Motor Lodge, a two-storey motel whose balcony and parking lot are open from the start. As everywhere in Black Ops 6, each player starts with a weapon of their own loadout, so the run never depends on a wall weapon.

The guides name two barriers out of the area, each sold for 1,500 Essence: one by the Motor Lodge, towards the back of Fuller’s Liberty Lanes, and one on East Main Street, towards Riverside. One list of the map’s doors also puts a door on the Abandoned Rooftop; whether it is a third way out of the First Room, and at what price, no source we found says, and none of the footage we checked shows a price on screen. No perk machine, Crafting Table, Arsenal or Pack-a-Punch stands inside: they are all beyond those barriers.

The Abandoned Rooftop

Where the team appears, behind sandbags, looking over the whole town and the church on its hill. The Rampage Inducer sits up here: switched on, it makes the zombies faster and more numerous to speed up the early rounds.

Pump & Pay

The gas station of East Main Street, with a burning tanker truck in front of its pumps. Its roof can be walked on, and a Mystery Box spot stands beside it, but the Box never starts there: its two first spots are in Liberty Lanes and on Riverside.

The Motor Lodge

The motel on the other side of the street. Upstairs, the door of Room 202 bursts open when a player comes near and zombies pour out of it: inside is the workbench of the Thrustodyne M23, which cannot be finished without the parts hidden in the rest of the town. A vending machine downstairs, by the barricade, gives a random reward each round to a crouched punch.

The barriers

1,500 Essence each according to the guides, by the Motor Lodge and on East Main Street, where a blue energy barrier closes the street beside Godwin’s Attic. In a First Room game none is ever bought.

GS45, Gunsmith render, Liberty Falls, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

GS45

750 Essence, a pistol on a wall of East Main Street, Uncommon.

DM-10, Gunsmith render, Liberty Falls, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

DM-10

1,500 Essence, a marksman rifle on the top floor of the Motor Lodge, Uncommon.

Dark Aether Field Generator

A trap outside the Motor Lodge, 1,000 Essence: it slows the zombies, dissolves them and kills them with Dark Aether energy. The Purist solo record of round 60 is still using it at round 50.

Ammo Cache

On East Main Street: 250 Essence to refill the ammo of the weapon in hand, more once the weapon is Pack-a-Punched. The Purist solo record uses it.

GobbleGum machine

On the parking lot of the Motor Lodge.

Exfil radio

On East Main Street, to call the helicopter out of the town.

Enemies

The map lists zombies, Armored and Heavy Zombies, Manglers, Vermin and Abominations; Vermin, the spiders of the Dark Aether, fill the Max Ammo rounds. In the record footage, ordinary and special zombies alike die in the trap of East Main Street.

The Liberty Falls leaderboard keeps five categories, each with boards for solo and for two, three and four players. Purist is the reference and the default tab; the four others come in two groups, No Support and With Support, each split between No GobbleGums and All GobbleGums, and count in the player ratings with a lower difficulty. How a round of Black Ops 6 compares with a round of the older games is explained in Black Ops 6: Rounds. The rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest round you can without opening doors, and play every round in full. Glitches and exploits are not allowed in any category.

Purist

None of the game’s help: no Field Upgrade, no Crafting Table, no Arsenal, no GobbleGum, no Support, no perk and no Mystery Box, and no Self-Revive beyond the one each player starts with.

No Support

Armor plates can be picked up or bought on the wall, but not the armor of the Crafting Table, and nothing from its Support section. In solo, only the starting Self-Revive; in co-op, three Self-Revives at most per player, dropped by the zombies and not crafted. Scorestreaks are best left on the ground.

With Support

Every Support item may be used.

GobbleGums

On the All GobbleGums boards they are allowed, but not a gum that has timed out. On the No GobbleGums boards none is used, except Anywhere But Here to get unstuck, with a timestamp; keeping the three Whimsical gums in the pack is advised, since one taken by mistake does not void the run.

Video

The whole game must be recorded, with every player’s point of view in co-op, except on the With Support, All GobbleGums board. A Twitch video must be saved as a highlight, since past broadcasts are not accepted; a YouTube video must be public or unlisted.

Black Ops 6

Every game is played on the latest patch. Saving and quitting or crashing the game to void a down, a Dying Wish or a game over is not allowed, and a patch that changes the balance of the game can reset a board.

Overview

Liberty Falls is one of the two Zombies maps that came out with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024, alongside Terminus. The mission briefing: “A small town in West Virginia is caught up in the grip of a mysterious outbreak. Assess the situation, contain the threat, and find the lost scientist who may hold the key to salvation.”

Liberty Falls is a small town of the Appalachians where Project Janus, Richtofen’s organization, had set up its facilities under the cover of a leak at the local power plant. On February 18, 1991, the artificial intelligence S.A.M. opened a dimensional breach there; the next day, John Blanchard, the chief of Project Janus Security, sends his Alpha Team into the burning streets to find three missing scientists. The town climbs from East Main Street to a church on a hill, past a bowling alley, a comic store, a bank and a cemetery.

Characters

The players are the four Operators of Alpha Team, chosen in the loadout. Around them, the story of the map is carried by a few voices.

An Abomination, its three heads glowing with Aetherium, Liberty Falls, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Abominations

Three-headed beasts that bite, charge and fire a beam of Aetherium. They are, with the Manglers, the high-value targets of the main quest.

Vermin

Spiders of the Dark Aether. They fill the Max Ammo rounds, and can also crawl out of a zombie killed without a critical hit.

Armored and Heavy Zombies join the ordinary zombies as the rounds go up. Doppelghasts, Shock Mimics and Amalgams only appear in some limited game modes.

Perks

Each perk of Black Ops 6 costs from 2,500 to 7,500 Essence, more for each perk already bought. None stands in the First Room.

Pack-a-Punch and the church

The Pack-a-Punch Machine stands in the church on the hill, which the breach has merged with the Dark Aether: 5,000 Essence for the first tier, 15,000 for the second and 30,000 for the third. From the First Room, the shortest way goes through the Motor Lodge barricade, the bowling alley, the Hilltop Stairs and the gate of the church, a door of 1,750, then of 2,000, and the corruption at its front for 2,250.

Armor

Tier II vests on the walls of West Main Street and Olly’s Comics for 4,000 Essence; Tier III in the cemetery, 10,000 with a Tier II vest, 14,000 without.

Arsenal and Crafting Tables

The Arsenal on Riverside, on the Hilltop and on the roof of The Alamo; Crafting Tables in the Motor Lodge Alley, the Groundskeeper’s Yard and Backstreet Parking.

Easter egg: Bye-Bye, Dark Aether

The main quest helps Panos out of the Dark Aether. It needs the Thrustodyne M23, and it ends with a fight inside the church. Its steps:

  1. Activate the Simultaneous Dimensional Gateway in the church to meet Panos.
  2. With the Thrustodyne, pull out the three parts of the LTG and build it on the roof of The Alamo.
  3. Take an Aether Canister from the church, open a portal under the Aether Storm of the cemetery or of Riverside, and kill its high-value target on a Dark Aether Field Generator.
  4. Recalibrate the three projectors with the Strauss Counter to free the second canister by the Pump & Pay, and repeat under the other storm.
  5. Bring both canisters back to the church and survive the last waves, until the Manglers and the Abomination fall.

Trivia

  • The game files call the map zm_t10_garnet.
  • The opening cinematic plays We’ll Meet Again by Vera Lynn, the song of the final cutscene of Forsaken.
  • From July 17 to August 7, 2025, the limited mode Starting Room locked every player inside the starting area of each map. On Liberty Falls, round 40 earned the Time Out GobbleGum.
  • The weeping heard near the Freedom Fried Chicken restaurant may be a nod to Krystal Miller, who hid in one of these restaurants during the outbreak in the audio logs of Operation Deadbolt.
  • Parasites could spawn on the map at launch, until the Season One Reloaded update.
