The First Room

The Garden Pond where every game begins, its stone bridge over the water, a fountain, lanterns and stone balustrades under the trees, official map guide, Shattered Veil, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of Shattered Veil is the Garden Pond, where every game begins: a garden below the mansion of Sam Colton Hall, with a pond crossed by a stone bridge, a fountain, stone balustrades and stairs under the trees. Like on every map of Black Ops 6, each player starts with the weapon of their own loadout.

The Garden Pond has two ways out, both closed by a door to buy: west, up the stairs, to the Conservatory, and east, to Shem’s Henge. Both lead on to the Motor Court and the mansion. No source checked gives their price. In a First Room game neither door is ever bought.

A Mystery Box spot

The Garden Pond is one of the nine places the Box can stand, and the Starting Room mode of 2025 listed it among the utilities of the room. Each spin costs 950 Essence.

The teleporter

One of the two Fast Travel Teleporters of the map stands in the Garden Pond, 500 Essence a trip; the other is at the Supply Depot, deep in the underground. Taking it leaves the room.

Rampage Inducer

The Garden Pond has one, the Starting Room mode listed it among the utilities of the room. Switched on, it makes the zombies spawn faster and move faster, up to round 55.

GS45

750 Essence, a pistol at Uncommon rarity, on a wall of the Garden Pond, the only wall weapon of the room.

No perk machine

None stands in the Garden Pond. The nearest, Quick Revive in the Conservatory and Speed Cola in Shem’s Henge, are behind the two doors.

Dark Aether Field Generator

A trap for 1000 Essence that slows, dissolves and kills the zombies in its field. The room also has an Ammo Cache and a GobbleGum Machine.

Free items

A Combat Axe lies at the spawn; it chops the wooden logs beside it, under which the document My Warheads appears. The audio log Shadow Benefactor lies beneath the stone bridge.

What stays out of reach

The Crafting Table and the Arsenal, the nearest in the Motor Court and the Grand Foyer, and the exfil, whose helicopter only lands in the Motor Court.

Enemies

Zombies, and in the special rounds the Toxic Zombies, which explode when killed and leave a pool of poison: the solo Purist record of Apasbeau meets them under the stone bridge at round 22. The other enemies of the map are listed below; no source checked says which of them reach the Garden Pond.

The Shattered Veil leaderboard keeps five categories, each with boards for solo and for two, three and four players. Purist is the reference and opens by default. Two groups follow, No Support and With Support, each split into No GobbleGums and All GobbleGums; they count in the player ratings with a lower difficulty. How a round of Black Ops 6 compares with a round of the older games is explained in Black Ops 6: Rounds. The rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest round you can without opening doors, and play every round in full. Glitches and exploits are not allowed in any category.

Purist

The starting loadout and nothing else. No perk, no Mystery Box, no GobbleGum, no Field Upgrade, no Arsenal, no Crafting Table and no Support, and no Self-Revive beyond the one each player starts with.

No Support

No scorestreak, and nothing from the Support section of the Crafting Table; picking up a scorestreak should be avoided. Armor plates are picked up or bought on the wall, never at the workbench. In solo, only the starting Self-Revive; in co-op, up to three per player, dropped by zombies.

With Support

Every support item may be used.

GobbleGums

On the No GobbleGums boards, the only gum allowed is Anywhere But Here, to get unstuck, with a timestamp; keeping the three Whimsical gums in the pack is advised, as one used by mistake does not void the run. On the All GobbleGums boards every gum is allowed, but not the timed-out gum.

Black Ops 6

Every game is played on the latest patch. Saving and quitting or crashing the game to void a down, a Dying Wish or a game over is not allowed, and a patch that changes the balance of the game can reset a board.

Video

The whole game must be recorded, with every player’s point of view in co-op on every board but With Support, All GobbleGums, whose rules do not ask for it. A Twitch video must be saved as a highlight, since past broadcasts are not accepted; a YouTube video must be public or unlisted.

Overview

Shattered Veil is the fifth Zombies map of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, after The Tomb and before Reckoning. It came out for free on April 2, 2025, with the Season Three update. The mission briefing: “A mansion with a diabolical past, caught in an Appalachian apocalypse. Free its captive souls. Come face to face with a synthetic mind. Confront a tyrant.”

Sam Colton Hall stands in the wooded hills above Liberty Falls. The cult of Josiah Shem built it from 1770 over the Serpent Mound, an underground shrine of the tribe that lived there before them; in 1810 their last ritual broke spacetime and the cult vanished. The house changed hands for two centuries, until Richtofen and Project Janus made it a research center that housed S.A.M. Weaver, Grey, Carver and Maya come with the Sentinel Artifact, which S.A.M. promises to use to bring back Samantha Maxis.

The players are Weaver, Grey, Carver and Maya, or any Operator of the loadout. Around them:

Edward Richtofen

The head of Project Janus, imprisoned in a liminal space after the outbreak. He reveals at the end why he picked Weaver for Requiem.

J

Josiah Shem

The cult leader who built the mansion and whose ritual shattered spacetime in 1810. His spirit is trapped in a loop inside the house.

Enemies

Zombies, Armored and Heavy Zombies, Vermin, Parasites, Doppelghasts, Amalgams, Abominations and Manglers, the cast of the earlier maps, with two newcomers:

An Elder Disciple in a hooded robe screaming, zombies with glowing eyes behind it, official map guide, Shattered Veil, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Elder Disciples

The Disciples of Black Ops Cold War, back as elite enemies. They speed up and toughen the zombies around them, and their beam pushes an enemy to its next form, a zombie into a Vermin, a Vermin into a Parasite, up to the Amalgam. Their roar stuns, and Dead Wire and Light Mend are their weaknesses.

Two Toxic Zombies glowing green in a cloud of toxic gas, official map guide, Shattered Veil, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Toxic Zombies

They take the place of the special-round enemies, and come during the main quest. They explode when killed and leave a pool of poison.

Z-Rex

The boss of the main quest: the Tyrannosaurus skeleton of the Grand Foyer, brought back to life.

The Ray Gun Mark II, its three variants and the Wunderwaffe DG-2

The mansion and its grounds

From the Garden Pond, two paths lead to the house: west up the stairs to the Conservatory, or east to Shem’s Henge. Both meet at the Motor Court and the Grand Foyer; from there the house splits again, east through the East Foyer, the Library and the Study, west through the West Hallways, the Nursery and the Director’s Quarters, and both end on the Rear Patio and in the Banquet Hall. Beneath it all lie the Mainframe Chamber, the Security Overlook, the Armory and the Service Tunnel.

Shem's Henge, a ring of standing stones around a stone circle, stairs climbing to the mansion behind, official map guide, Shattered Veil, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Shem’s Henge

The Nursery, toys scattered on a rug, a desk and bookshelves under a chandelier, official map guide, Shattered Veil, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies

Nursery

On the western path: two bedrooms and a larger multipurpose room, with exits onto the South West Balcony.

Pack-a-Punch

In the Security Overlook, under the mansion. The elevator that goes down there has to be repaired, with a fuse from the Library and a circuit board from the Director’s Quarters.

Teleporters

Two of them, one in the Garden Pond and one at the Supply Depot, for 500 Essence a trip. The one of the Garden Pond is in the First Room, but using it leaves the room.

Liminal spaces

Rooms out of time behind the paintings of the mansion, where the rituals of the main quest take place.

Easter egg: the main quest

The main quest charges the Sentinel Artifact for S.A.M. It needs the Pack-a-Punch and the three variants of the Ray Gun Mark II. Its steps:

  1. Repair the elevator and open the Pack-a-Punch.
  2. Build the Ray Gun Mark II, then its three variants.
  3. With the Mark II-W, the Metal Hip Flask ritual in the Liminal Distillery.
  4. With the Mark II-P, the Antler Carving ritual in the Liminal Banquet Hall.
  5. With the Mark II-R, the Nuclear Plant Inspection Report ritual in the Liminal Library.
  6. Give the Artifact to S.A.M., then defeat the Z-Rex in the quarry.

The main quest, step by step

Secrets

Falling to Pieces

Three Mister Peeks headphones start the song of the map.

Donut

Six parts of a Mister Peeks plush, repaired in the Motor Court, call a friendly Vermin that grows into a Doppelghast.

The ghost lady and the sleepwalker

Two hidden chests, in the Nursery mirror and at the end of a sleepwalk, each with a random perk.

Hidden power-ups

Small models of every power-up, hidden around the mansion.

The song, Donut and the other secrets

Challenges

No achievement or trophy of Black Ops 6 is tied to Shattered Veil. The main quest gives the Shattered Veil Complete calling cards, the PhDeadly skin for Carver and the Tapped Out charm. In the Starting Room mode, held from July 17 to August 7, 2025, reaching round 40 here gave 15,000 XP, GobbleGums and the Ultra gum Wonderbar!.
