The Wonder Weapon of the map

The Decompressive Isotopic Estrangement Machine, or D.I.E. Machine, is the Wonder Weapon of Die Maschine. Its first form is the D.I.E. Shockwave: it holds 60 charges and spends 15 on each shot, a concussive blast that kills several zombies or Plaguehounds at once. Its alternate fire is a vacuum that drains the Aetherium out of the zombies and refills the primary fire; it cannot be used while the weapon is full. Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the D.E.A.D. Thunderblast.

Its intel tells how it was born: built to collect Element 1, it became a weapon after an assistant fired a full capacitor by accident during an outdoor test, destroying a military transport and Doctor Vogel’s car.

How to get it

The D.I.E. Machine comes from the Mystery Box for 950 points, as a Legendary reward of the Trials, from the Coffin Dance secret, or for free with a short quest:

  1. Kill a Megaton. Once both of its halves are dead, a keycard drops on the ground.
  2. In the Weapons Lab, open the locked cabinet with the keycard and take the D.I.E. Remote. It gives a signal near the weapon.
  3. In the Living Room of the old bunker, a locked room has a hole in one wall, with the D.I.E. Machine inside. Interact with it through the hole: it starts its alternate fire for a short time.
  4. Lead zombies near the room so that the weapon drains them. When it is charged, the Remote says so; interact again, and the blast blows the door off. The D.I.E. Machine can be picked up, along with the Carpe D.I.E.M. achievement.

The four variants

Each variant is a capacitor locked in a crate somewhere on the map. Once a capacitor is taken, the players can switch between the variants by going back to its crate. The Electrobolt and the Thermophasic need the first steps of the main quest, which open their two anomalies; the other two can be done at any time.

D.I.E. Cryo-Emitter

A beam of freezing liquid that slows and freezes zombies. A Megaton must hit the fungus of the tree between the Pond and the Crash Site with a radioactive blast. Shoot down the crate with a beaker on the edge of the Penthouse, fill the beaker under the fungus, then pour it on the chained crate of the Medical Bay. Pack-a-Punched: D.E.A.D. Glacialator.

A grenade-launcher shot that leaves a cloud of NOVA-5 gas. Suck the canister down from a desk on the second floor of the bunker with the vacuum, set it to the right of Deadshot Daiquiri and kill a Plaguehound beside it. Put the full canister on the vine-wrapped crate of the Crash Site and shoot it. Pack-a-Punched: D.E.A.D. Virulence.

An electric beam. In the anomaly under the Pack-a-Punch, drain three glowing crystals one at a time, at the Penthouse behind Der Wunderfizz, above the obstruction between the Crash Site and the Tunnel, and at the Pond, and shoot each charge into the crate under the Pack-a-Punch with the Shockwave. D.I.E. Thermophasic

Plasma shots that burn what they hit. In the Dark Aether, the plane cockpit at the Crash Site rises over a fuse box: take the fuse. Through the anomaly between the Pond and the Crash Site, put it in the laser cutter opposite Deadshot Daiquiri, then open the crate on the truck of the Pond. Pack-a-Punched: D.E.A.D. Immolator.

In the First Room

Doors closed, the D.I.E. Machine is out of reach: the Mystery Box never starts in the Yard and the Living Room is behind the Omega Outpost door. Duplicating a Wonder Weapon is not allowed on the ZFRR boards of Black Ops Cold War.
