Unlocking the Pack-a-Punch

Diego Necalli in front of the glowing red frame of the Pack-a-Punch Altar, IX, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Zombies

On IX, the Pack-a-Punch is not waiting behind a door: it has to be earned. The Pack-a-Punch Altar rises from a pillar in the Temple, the round chamber under the map, once four heads have been set on the stakes in front of it. Each head belongs to the champion of one god.

The four gongs stand in the altar rooms, at the top of the four towers: Danu and Ra are reached through the two doors of the Arena, Zeus and Odin through gates opened from inside.

  1. Ring a gong: interact with the gong of an altar room. Champions of that god appear: Destroyers, Marauders or Zombie Tigers.
  2. Take the head: kill the champions, then walk over the floating head they leave to pick it up.
  3. Repeat in every tower: Danu, Ra, Zeus and Odin, in any order.
  4. Go down to the Temple: set the four heads on the four stakes in front of the central pillar. After a few seconds, the pillar turns into the Pack-a-Punch Altar.

Gong like the Wind

The achievement asks for all eight challengers of the gongs to be killed within five minutes of the start of the game.

Danu Altar Room

Its gong is at the top of the stairs, to the left of the barrier window.

Upgrading weapons

Upgrade

5000 points for the first pack of a weapon.

Repack

2500 points for each new pack. It gives the weapon a random elemental effect, such as Fire Bomb, Kill-O-Watt or Brain Rot, but no ammo.

Free Strife

The third challenge of a banner in the Arena gives a Pack-a-Punched Strife without opening the altar.

Some steps of the Easter egg need a precise repack effect: Fire Bomb for the fertilizer, Kill-O-Watt for the poles of the Arena. The Brain Rot effect, which turns an enemy against the others for a while, is the one needed for the achievement Here Kitty, Kitty.

In the First Room

With the doors closed, no gong can be reached and the altar never rises. The only upgraded weapon a First Room player can hold is the Pack-a-Punched Strife of the third challenge.
