No main quest

Nacht der Untoten has no main quest and no song Easter egg in World at War. Undone, the song behind three explosive barrels, was only added in Black Ops. What the first map hides is small, and it started a tradition.

The radio

In the Help room, to the right of the Mystery Box, stands a radio. Knifed or shot, it plays a piece of music. In World at War, the songs include the Black Cats soundtrack, the Red Army theme, the Königgrätzer Marsch and the song “WTF”. The Black Ops version plays other music, mostly from Dead Ops Arcade.

Writing on the walls

The words "You must ascend from darkness" chalked on a wall of the starting room, Nacht der Untoten, Call of Duty World at War Zombies

The starting room

“You must ascend from darkness” is chalked on a wall. The words were also a step of Viktor Reznov’s escape from Vorkuta, and later the second step of the Origins main quest.

The words "Salvation lies above" chalked on a wall of the Help room, Nacht der Untoten, Call of Duty World at War Zombies

The Help room

“Salvation lies above” is chalked on a wall, pointing to the upper floor.

The door of the Help room, with "HELP" chalked on it and its last letter unfinished, Nacht der Untoten, Call of Duty World at War Zombies

The Help door

The chalk on the door spells “HELP”, but its P is unfinished, so it reads “HELL”.

Hidden details

  • The trucks parked outside the bunker can be destroyed.
  • The plane outside is a crashed B-17 Flying Fortress, the Allied plane that brought the Marines.
  • If a player enters the Help room in the first four rounds, no zombie comes out of its cave wall before round 5. The later versions do not keep this.
  • Buying the Stielhandgranate with between 130 and 250 points leaves a negative balance.
  • The Game Over screen plays “Lullaby for a Dead Man”, heard in full as the song of the next map, Verrückt.

In the First Room

Doors closed, only the writing of the starting room is in sight. The radio, the Help door seen from inside and the writing of the Help room are all behind the 1000-point door.
