The Ray Gun Mark II

The Ray Gun Mark II of Shattered Veil fires its rays in three-round bursts. Project Janus recovered it from the Dark Aether without ever finding out where it came from, and locked it in the Armory beneath the mansion. It is the first wonder weapon of the Dark Aether story taken straight from the Dark Aether. It comes from the Mystery Box, or for free with the quest below; either way, the quest has to be done for the main quest to go on.

At first the weapon belonged to Shattered Veil alone; the Season Three Reloaded update added it to the Box of the other maps, but its three variants stayed here.

Free Ray Gun Mark II

  1. From round 10, a zombie in a lab coat, with purple eyes, appears in the Mainframe Chamber or the Security Overlook. Kill it for a floppy disk.
  2. In the East Foyer, in the room with the staircase, use the computer: the fax machine slowly prints a document while Vermin attack. The document gives a four-letter word: MOTH, CRAB, YETI or WORM.
  3. In the Nursery, a blackboard shows letters in groups. Each letter of the word is worth the number of letters in its group: that gives a four-digit code. The board changes every game.
  4. In the Service Tunnel, type the code on the keypad of a glass cage. It frees an Elite Doppelghast, with Toxic Zombies; kill it for a severed arm.
  5. In the Armory, by the Supply Depot, put the arm on the hand scanner of the glass case and take the Ray Gun Mark II.

Empty canisters

Each variant starts from an Empty Canister. Three can be found in a game, one per method:

A blue crystal

Shoot the large blue crystals with the Mark II: one of them, on the roof of the South West Balcony, in the Service Tunnel, the Conservatory or the East Foyer, drops a canister.

The Rear Patio window

Throw an LT53 Kazimir in front of the window below Double Tap: it drags a canister out.

The valves

Next to the Crafting Table of the Mainframe Chamber, a tank bears the letter A or B. Outside the Service Tunnel, hit with a Combat Axe the valve that does not leak and the one next to that letter, then blow up the tank.

The three variants

Ray Gun Mark II-W

Blue, it fires like a submachine gun, the fastest of the three. Quick kills leave a patch of Wraith Fire on the ground. Put the canister in the device in front of Speed Cola in Shem’s Henge, make the Abomination that appears blast and charge the three small stones until they float, then kill the Vermin of the lockdown. The Explosive Canister is crafted at the workbench of the Supply Depot. Pack-a-Punched: Wraithfire.

Ray Gun Mark II-P

Purple, it fires like a shotgun, slowly. A kill can leave a purple sigil that makes the players standing in it invulnerable. Take the two refractors from the fountains of the Conservatory and the South West Balcony, blow open the rubble by the Tier III armor in the Service Tunnel with an Essence Bomb, and guide the beam of the Serpent Mound onto the Doppelghast statue three times. The Light Canister is crafted in the Director’s Quarters. Pack-a-Punched: Preservation.

Ray Gun Mark II-R

Yellow, a single piercing shot, the slowest and the hardest-hitting. A kill can set off a toxic blast that leaves a pool of rot. Burn or blow up four Aether Seed plants, put the canister in the device of the Conservatory and defend each seed in a planter until it grows. The Toxic Canister is crafted at the workbench of the Garden Pond. Pack-a-Punched: Rot Blight.

Wunderwaffe DG-2

Richtofen fought the outbreak of the mansion with the Wunderwaffe DG-2, as the opening cutscene of Liberty Falls shows, before it was taken from him and sealed in the Dark Aether. It is also in the Box.

Wunderwaffe DG-2

Chain lightning from one zombie to the next. Up close it hurts its user too, and PhD Flopper does not stop that. Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the Wunderwaffe DG-3 and its lightning turns red.

  1. Have the Ray Gun Mark II and finish one ritual of the main quest.
  2. Shoot the laundry under the bed of the Nursery.
  3. Then destroy three objects, each guarded by flying debris to shoot away first: a book on a chair of the East Balcony, a basketball on the rocks of the Garden Pond, across from the workbench, and the family portrait of the Grand Foyer. Each one screams and flies off as purple smoke.
  4. Drop down the elevator shaft, look up, and shoot the purple smoke circling above: the Wunderwaffe falls.
