The Fly Trap

The Easter egg of Der Riese is the Fly Trap, a game of hide and seek with Samantha Maxis. It is named after a real structure of Lower Silesia, the Muchołapka, near the site of Project Riese. Starting it gives the achievement Elevate Your Senses. It needs the Pack-a-Punch, so the power and the three teleporters first.

  1. Pack-a-Punch a weapon.
  2. In the alley near the doors of the starting courtyard and of the Animal Testing Lab, shoot the control panel with the upgraded weapon. Samantha laughs and says “I want to play a game… Let’s play hide and seek!”
  3. Eight objects fly out in a ring, then scatter across the map to three spots.
  4. Find and shoot the three spots, with any weapon, in any order.

Beauty of Annihilation

Three green jars with a spinal cord inside play the song of the map, “Beauty of Annihilation”, when the use button is held on each of them, in any order: two in the Animal Testing Lab, one on a desk in the side room of Teleporter B.

The photos of the three noticeboards were hints of the maps of a fourth map pack for World at War, which was cancelled. The lighthouse and the ship were later seen in Call of the Dead, and Moon kept Paris as its code name.

In the First Room

The Fly Trap needs a Pack-a-Punched weapon, so it cannot be started doors closed. The courtyard still keeps its radio and the shadow of a teddy bear holding a knife, cast on the wall by a real teddy bear outside one of its barriers.
