The power

On Der Riese, everything starts with the power switch, behind the generator of the Courtyard, the open area behind the factory. The Mystery Box starts right in front of that generator. There are two ways down to it, each through a door of the starting courtyard:

  1. Through the Animal Testing side: open the left door of the starting courtyard (750), the door of the Animal Testing Lab (1000) and the debris on its staircase (1000), then drop down from the upper walkway.
  2. Through the Automobile Garage side: open the right door (750), the door of the Automobile Garage (1000) and the debris on its stairs (1000), then drop down from the upper walkway.

The power switch

Pulled once, it stays on for the rest of the game.

The bridge

It comes down with the power and joins the two upper walkways, between Juggernog and Double Tap Root Beer.

Two shortcut doors

The doors between the side corridors of the starting courtyard and the Courtyard open by themselves with the power.

The three teleporters

The open Z-A door of the Generator room, with Teleporter A inside, Der Riese, Call of Duty World at War Zombies

Teleporter A

In the Generator room, behind the Animal Testing Lab, past a door of 1250 points marked Z-A.

Teleporter B

In Chemical Testing, at the top of the stairs of the Automobile Garage, past a door of 750 points, with the Type 100 on the wall and a Mystery Box spot on the balcony.

Teleporter C

In the Main Factory, behind the Courtyard, past a door of 1250 points, with Quick Revive, the STG-44 and, outside, the Bowie Knife.

To link a teleporter, the power must be on:

  1. Hold the use button inside the teleporter. A countdown of 30 seconds starts.
  2. Run back to the starting courtyard before it ends, or let a teammate wait there, and hold the use button on the mainframe. The link is made, a power-up drops in front of the mainframe and the shutter of the Pack-a-Punch opens a step.
  3. Do the same with the two other teleporters, in any order.

The mainframe

The landing pad in the starting courtyard. Every teleport ends there.

The countdown

Once a pad is activated, a pocket watch appears on screen and counts down the 30 seconds left to reach the mainframe.

Teleporting

Once linked, a teleporter takes the players standing in it back to the mainframe for 1500 points, then needs a short recharge. Any zombie inside as it fires is killed, and a power-up can drop at the mainframe after the trip.

Too many trips

After round 20, a new trip less than a minute after the last one calls four Hellhounds instead of a power-up.

Der Electrician

Linking the three teleporters by round 7 gives the achievement.

The Pack-a-Punch

With the third link, the shutter is fully open and the Pack-a-Punch Machine stays available for the rest of the game, on the mainframe platform. Der Riese is the map that introduced it.

Upgrade

5000 points. The weapon gets more damage, a larger magazine or more ammunition, sometimes a new fire mode, and a new name.

Ammunition

An upgraded wall weapon refills at its wall for 4500 points.

The camouflage

The upgraded weapons of World at War get an engraved, stainless-steel look with calligraphy patterns. Der Riese is the only map that uses it.

Names

The names change on the English version only. On the Spanish, Polish, French, Italian, Czech and Russian versions they stay the same.

Traps

Der Riese has three electric traps, all on the power and each for 1000 points: on the Animal Testing side, on the Automobile Garage side and at the bridge. After use they need to cool down. A running trap stops any player without Juggernog.

In the First Room

Doors closed, none of this is reachable. The power switch is behind the doors of the starting courtyard, so the mainframe never links, the shutter never opens and the Pack-a-Punch stays closed for the whole game, a few steps from the players.
