Game Over, Man!

Game Over, Man! is the main quest of Outbreak, and the achievement of the same name. The four survivors try to warn Atlas that they are alive and call in a rescue. It can be done solo or with two to four players; a missing character’s part can be done by another player.

Step 1: the Black Box

The Black Box of the Warbird, official model, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

The Black Box

The flight recorder of the downed Warbird, with its location data locked behind encryption.

Where it lies

In the Courtyard, just outside the wreck of the Warbird, against the facility wall. From the spawn, walk straight ahead to the wall, then to the right. Picking it up shows that it is encrypted.

Step 2: the Morgue computer

The computer terminals of the Morgue where the Black Box is plugged in, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

The terminal

A working computer of the Morgue, between the 3D Printer spot of the Morgue and the power generator. Plugging the Black Box in shows that all four survivors need a far higher security clearance to decrypt it.

Step 3: the four ID badges

Each character has to recover their own ID badge. Each badge found raises the security level of every player by one.

Oz's Atlas security badge, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

Oz, the janitor

In the Holding area, one of the nine Subject Quarantine cells holds his badge. The central raised cell has a damaged hydraulic coupling: shoot it with any weapon but the Atlas 45 until it falls, then every player performs an Exo Slam on top of that cell. The cell with the badge pops up; take it before it sinks back.

Kahn's Atlas security badge, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

Kahn, the executive

His badge is behind the security barrier of the Administration. During a Host round every player must be infected, then press the four keypads of the Administration while infected, at the same time if needed: two each with two players, one each with four. Using the Decontamination Zone resets them.

Lilith Swann's Atlas security badge, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

Lilith, the IT specialist

She prints a new one. Get the EM1 from the 3D Printer, pay for the printer again and shoot the printing head with the EM1: the badge is printed instead of a weapon.

Jim Decker's Atlas security badge, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

Decker, the guard

His badge ended up in the Incinerator Room, reached by overloading a Trash Chute. Solo, pay for the chute, step back, wait for it to reset and pay again; in a team, several players use the chutes at the same time. Shoot the trash on the floor to uncover the badge before the compactor closes in.

The holding cells

The quarantine cells of the Holding area, which rise from the floor.

The keypads of Kahn

Right of the Administration security door, opposite Exo Medic; to the right of the Decontamination Zone, by a pair of half-open doors; down the hallway with the Trash Chute, against the blocked security door; and above the “Executive Offices” sign, reached with an exo jump.

Step 4: clearance level 50

With the four badges, every survivor is at security level 4. Zombies now drop keycards, and each one picked up raises the level of the player who takes it. Every player must reach level 49. How the zombies are killed decides the ending:

  1. Bring the clearance to level 49, then go back to the Black Box computer in the Morgue. It reports that the survivors “have not checked in today”.
  2. Each survivor checks in at their own hand scanner, which brings them to level 50: Kahn across the hallway from the MP11 in the Administration, Decker in the back stairwell on the wall of the Trash Chute in the Exo Testing Room, Oz next to a broken doorway left of Exo Health in the Holding area, Lilith in the Morgue opposite the entrance to the Exo Testing Room.
  3. Back at the Black Box computer, the badges go into the console and An-G starts calling the rescue. She asks for an Exo Suit, so every player tries to take a second one at the Exo Suit Station.
  4. Ride of the Valkyries plays as the survivors head out to the Courtyard to meet the Warbird.

The two endings

The experimental Upgrade Station of the Exo Testing Room, with a CEL-3 Cauterizer Mk 20 in hand at round 29, Outbreak, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Zombies

The reward

After the original ending, trying once more to take an Exo Suit in the Exo Testing Room unlocks the experimental Upgrade Station, which takes a Mk 20 weapon to Mk 25.

Original ending

The rescue Warbird enters the Courtyard and is shot down by an Orbital Care Package, the music cuts off and the achievement unlocks. The game goes on.

Alternate ending

Only if every keycard from level 4 to 49 came from zombies killed by something other than the players’ weapons; a single keycard from a weapon kill gives the original ending. The Warbird then rescues the survivors and the game ends. It also unlocks the Golden Bus trophy in Descent.
