The Tesla Gun is the Wonder Weapon of The Final Reich, where it first appeared. It was designed by Gruppenführer Heinz Richter, and Klaus Fischer made its four variants. It never comes from the Mystery Box on this map: it is built during the main quest.

Tesla Gun

A semi-automatic weapon that fires a slow bolt of Geistkraft. The impact stuns every zombie around it, then a few seconds later deals a large amount of electrical damage. It holds 5 shots, with 25 in reserve, so it runs dry quickly.

Building the Tesla Gun

It needs the power and the Salt Mine Tunnels, see the power.

  1. In the Emperor’s Chamber, at the bottom of the Salt Mine Tunnels, use the hilt of Barbarossa’s sword. The Geistkraft Transfer Device above it wakes up and charges with the zombies killed nearby.
  2. In the Command Room, turn the crank in front of the Salt Mine door to open the canopy over the device. It rises into the Command Room and the lights of the bunker go out.
  3. Press the button on the platform of the Weapon Assembly Station. The device rolls along its rail to the Laboratory, and stops on the way until zombies are killed in the red circle under it.
  4. In the Laboratory, it plugs into a machine that makes the barrel. Take it.
  5. The device comes back, then rolls to the Morgue the same way, where another machine makes the core.
  6. Back in the Command Room, a Brenner lands on the platform. Kill it: it drops its head, used later in the main quest.
  7. Place the barrel and the core on the Weapon Assembly Station and craft the Tesla Gun.

Geistkraft Transfer Device

A pod on a rail that carries the energy of the hilt to the machines of the bunker.

Weapon Assembly Station

The automated table of the Command Room, where the gun and its variants are put together. A Tesla Gun traded for another weapon can be taken back there with its ammo.

The four variants

Each variant needs the lightning rods of the main quest, a battery called an Überschnalle, charged by killing the right enemies in one of the four traps of the bunker, then defended in a machine until it releases a new part. The part goes on the matching table of the Weapon Assembly Station, where the base Tesla Gun is placed to be changed.

Midnight

Named after a morning star. A slow bolt that goes through every zombie on its way. Battery: shine the light of a Brenner head on a statue of the Courtyard, shoot the battery down with the Tesla Gun, and charge it with the S-Mine Trap and a crowd of zombies.

Bloodthirst

Named after a sword “said to boil the very blood of the unworthy”. Its shot stuns the zombies, which then explode and hurt those around them. Battery: follow a line of flickering streetlights from the Riverside, shooting each with the Tesla Gun, down to the bottom of the Morgue; charge it by killing Pests with the Morgue Trap, twice.

Hurricane

Named after a warhammer that summoned “a mighty storm”. A very slow bolt that goes through the zombies and stays where it hits a wall, hurting everything around for a few seconds. Battery: make a Bomber explode next to a locker on the Laboratory stairs; charge it by killing two Wüstlings with the Laboratory Trap, twice.

Reaper

Named after a scythe. Its shot stuns a zombie, which then runs to the nearest zombie and explodes. Battery: make a Wüstling break a locker in the Sewers; charge it by killing two Bombers with the Saw Trap, twice.

Dark Arts

Building all four variants gives the achievement of the same name. All four are needed for Dark Reunion: the chandelier above the hilt is shot once with each.

In the First Room

Doors closed, the Tesla Gun is out of reach: it is only built in the bunker, during the main quest.
