The First Room

The narrow snowy alley of the Village Entrance at night, with Lebenblitz glowing green at the far end, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

On ZFRR, the First Room of The Final Reich is the Village Entrance, the narrow, snowy alley of Mittelburg where the four agents start every game. Each player starts with 500 Jolts, the weapon chosen in their loadout and a shovel. The alley runs between half-timbered houses, with iron gates at one end and the way to the Village Square at the other.

Machine Pistol

500 Jolts, in a weapon locker on a wall at the spawn end of the alley, next to the iron gate that looks out towards the castle tower.

M30 Luftwaffe Drilling

500 Jolts, the second weapon locker of the alley, a three-barreled drilling.

Two locked gates

At the spawn end, one gate under the sign of the brewery leads to the Pub, the other to the bridge and the Tower. Both wait for the power, so they never open in a First Room game.

Lebenblitz

500 Jolts in solo, 1,500 in co-op, at the far end of the alley, against a wall between wooden benches and barrels. In solo it revives the player who goes down, up to three times in a game; in co-op it doubles the revive speed.

The Village Square gate

Next to Lebenblitz, an iron gate to the Village Square for 750 Jolts. It is the door a First Room game never opens: the Geistschild machine, the gas valves and the way to the power are all behind it.

Resupply Package

At the spawn end of the alley, near the two locked gates. After a player bleeds out, it gives their weapons back for 500 Jolts.

A recording

One of the thirteen recorders of the map lies on a barrel to the right of Lebenblitz.

Nothing else

No Geistschild, no Mystery Box, no trap and no other Blitz: the game is played with the two lockers, the starting weapon and Lebenblitz.

Pest waves

The first one is wave 5, then they come back regularly; the last Pest drops a Taschen Voll (Max Ammo). In the narrow alley, a pack of Pests closes in fast.

Wüstlings

They join the waves later in the game. In the alley there is little room to dodge their charge, and their weak spot is the back.

No Brenner, no Treasure Zombie

On this map the Brenner only comes with the main quest, and Treasure Zombies only once every area is open, so neither reaches a First Room game.

A challenge of the game

The game itself has a First Room challenge here: survive 20 waves without opening doors, then again without going down, two of the challenges that unlock the Mountaineer.

The The Final Reich leaderboard has two categories, each with boards for solo and for two, three and four players: No Consumables, the reference, and With Consumables. Its rules:

Doors closed

Reach the highest wave you can without opening any door or barrier, and play every round in full.

No Consumables

Consumables are not allowed on the reference board. The With Consumables board has the same rules without that ban.

No self-made barrier

A player may not go down on purpose to block the zombies out of part of the playable area.

No glitches

Glitches and exploits are not allowed.

Video

The whole game is recorded and the lobby is shown before the map is launched. On the No Consumables board, co-op games need the point of view of every player.

Overview

The Final Reich is the main Nazi Zombies map of Call of Duty: WWII, developed by Sledgehammer Games. It is the second map of the mode, after the Prologue, and the first one built for up to four players. Before the game came out, it was known as Army of the Dead. The mission briefing: “The sleepy mining town of Mittelburg, where shadowy horror stirs.”

Marie Fischer, an agent of the OSS born in Mittelburg, comes home with three members of the Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives Program to recover the relics the Nazis stole and to rescue her brother Klaus. Klaus, who had brought the Nazis to the village himself, has been forced to work for Doctor Peter Straub of the Ahnenerbe. In the salt mines under the village, Straub found the hilt of the sword of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa and drew from it the Geistkraft, the energy that raises his army of the dead. The crew lost Marie when their train was attacked on the way; the map starts once the four of them have met again in the village.

H

Heinz Richter

The Gruppenführer in charge of the weapons. He is only heard, from the zeppelin that circles the village during the main quest.

Enemies

A Pest, an armless zombie, howling under the banners of the village at night, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Pests

Thin, armless zombies that bite and come in fast, buzzing with flies. They have waves of their own, the first one on wave 5, and the last Pest of such a wave drops a Taschen Voll, the Max Ammo of the mode.

A Wüstling charging through a corridor, black and white achievement image of Strike!, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Wüstlings

Slow brutes with a spiked club in place of the right hand. Shot from a distance, they crouch and charge, knocking over every zombie on the way. Their weak spot is the back. A kill is worth 200 Jolts.

A Bomber with its striped bomb on its back, black and white achievement image of Undertaker, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Bombers

Two zombies sewn back to back, one of them carrying a bomb. Shot in the bomb, they blow up and kill the zombies around them; left alone, they rush the players to explode on them.

Zombies

The dead soldiers of the Wehrmacht, raised by the Geistkraft. They come in waves, up to 24 at a time on the map.

Brenners

Heavy zombies with a flamethrower and a fuel tank on their back. On this map they only come with the main quest, and their head becomes a quest item.

Treasure Zombies

Harmless Bombers with a red and yellow bomb that drop Jolts as they walk. They only appear once every area of the map is open.

The Panzermörder, a giant made of stitched bodies, seen from below at night, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Panzermörder

The boss of the map, a giant built from stitched bodies on a metal frame, with Klaus fused to its chest. It is fought in the village at the end of the main quest.

Fireworks and the Panzermörder, step by step

Blitz and Geistschild

Perks are replaced by Blitz, machines that shock the left hand of the player. A player can hold four of them at once, and loses them one by one while down.

Lebenblitz

500 Jolts in solo, 1,500 in co-op, in the Village Entrance. In solo it revives the player, up to three times; in co-op it doubles the revive speed.

Kugelblitz

2,000, in the Pub. Bullets deal double damage and the fire rate rises.

Laufenblitz

2,000, in the tunnel under the Village Square. Faster sprint and infinite stamina.

Faustblitz

2,000, in the Command Room. Double melee damage.

Schildblitz

2,000, in the Laboratory. Reloading releases a burst of electricity that stuns the zombies around.

Schnellblitz

3,000, in the Laboratory. Faster reloads.

The Geistschild machine sells an armor that absorbs up to three fatal hits. It costs 500 Jolts the first time, then more with each purchase, up to 10,000. There are five of them, the closest one in the Village Square.

Weapons

Each player starts with the weapon chosen in their loadout and a shovel. Sixteen weapons hang in weapon lockers, from 500 Jolts at the spawn to 1,600 for the FG 42 and the Lee Enfield. The Mystery Box costs 1,000 Jolts and starts in the Command Room.

The Tesla Gun seen from the side, with its glass tube and copper coils, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Tesla Gun

The Wonder Weapon of the map, which first appeared here. It is not found in the Box: it is built at the Weapon Assembly Station of the Command Room during the main quest, then turned into four variants, Bloodthirst, Hurricane, Midnight and Reaper.

Every weapon locker, the Box and the traps

The Tesla Gun and its four variants

The power and the Ubersprengen

The bunker under the village has no power at the start. Three gas valves feed the Well Trap of the Village Square; once it has burned the grating over the well, the players drop into the tunnel and start the generator. The bunker door then opens for 1,250 Jolts. The Ubersprengen, the Pack-a-Punch of the mode, waits in a cage in the Sewers: it opens after a button and the three Disposal Tubes of the map.

The bunker door

Upgrade

5,000 Jolts for an upgrade, then 4,000 to refill the ammo of an upgraded weapon at the machine.

The power, the bunker and the Ubersprengen

Easter eggs

The Final Reich has two versions of its main quest. The Casual one, Fireworks, guides the players with objectives on screen; the Hardcore one, Dark Reunion, gives no hint.

The hilt of Barbarossa's sword held up by a player, black and white achievement image of Fireworks, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Fireworks

Build the Tesla Gun, wake the three machines of the Emperor’s Chamber, take the hilt of Barbarossa’s sword and defeat the Panzermörder with three batteries dropped from Richter’s zeppelin.

Dark Reunion

The same quest with more steps, the four Tesla Gun variants, the Red Talon sword and the Rabenherz gem, which brings Klaus back to life at the end.

Fireworks, the main quest

Dark Reunion, saving Klaus

Finishing either version unlocks Gröesten Haus, the survival map set in the farmhouse of the Prologue.

Secrets

Doctor Straub in his white coat, a blade in hand, next to a chained body, black and white achievement image of Lurking Around, The Final Reich, Call of Duty WWII Zombies

Doctor Straub

He shows himself for a few seconds at a time, in the bunker or the Sewers, then disappears. Shooting him gives the Lurking Around achievement.

Recordings

Thirteen recorders hide around the map, one of them on a barrel next to Lebenblitz at the spawn. Klaus speaks in the audio files, Straub in the video files.

“The Classic”

Jolts dropped in four bowls, in the Morgue, the Village Square, the Riverside and the Pub, add a special PPSh-41 to the Mystery Box.

Hidden characters

Challenge sets on this map unlock extra characters for the whole mode. One of them is a First Room challenge.
