Two categories

The Town First Room is the street, played with the three doors closed. B2, whose competitive rules ZFRR follows, ranks it in two separate categories, and the Town leaderboard keeps a board for each.

Hellhounds

Allowed by ZWR in 2019 and banned in B2’s sixth First Room vote, in effect since March 2, 2026. B2 itself asks for a new vote: few Town players took part, and games played with dogs before the ban stay valid.

The alley lines

In the Semtex category, players must reach the Double Tap alley before the first zombie spawns. Crossing the red line toward the Pack-a-Punch is forbidden at all times; the yellow line can be crossed only between rounds or to cut back with the horde. In co-op, a player who bled out goes straight back to the alley before the next round starts.

Off-host equipment

In the Classic category, the B2FR patch may let players other than the host keep their equipment between breaks, allowed since March 2026.

Rules of every First Room

Doors

Opening a door is not allowed. The bar, the Juggernog house and the bank stay shut.

Glitches

No out-of-bounds glitch, no fast ray, no rapid fire, no abuse of the fast grenade glitch, no spawn control. Fast knifing and boarding, letting zombies bleed out behind windows, are allowed.

PC

Plutonium in its latest version and the B2FR patch, also up to date, are required; Steam and Redacted are refused. Removing the fog, reading health values or covering the anticheat output is not allowed.

Footage

The full game must be public, with game sound; in co-op, the host’s view is required.

First rounds

Strategy guides written for open games agree on the start, which fits the Classic street:

  1. The game starts in the middle, by the Pack-a-Punch. Walk straight to the M14 and Stamin-Up side, behind the car: from there, zombies spawn close by and the early rounds go faster than from the middle.
  2. Buy the M14 with your 500 starting points and headshot through the first three or four rounds.
  3. Watch the burning zombies: knifing one as it explodes can down you.
  4. Then build the street up: Double Tap, Stamin-Up, and the Box in the alley for a points gun and the Ray Gun.

Where zombies come in

The Olympia wall

Two to six zombies drop from the broken wall of the Juggernog house above the Olympia. They come in faster than risers and can block you if you run under them.

Left of Double Tap

Zombies climb the wall and drop into the alley. Keep an eye on the top of the wall as you run.

The pit side

Most of the horde comes from the front, the Pack-a-Punch side of the street.

Windows

The bank, the bar inside and out, and the Juggernog house all have boarded windows.

Camping the alley

The fenced lane at the back of the street, the Double Tap machine at its end in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The fenced Double Tap alley, the “cage”, is the strongest spot of the street, and the only one of the Semtex category. Zombies reach it from four directions. A guide reports that, with everyone inside it and the other windows boarded, only two windows stay active, which keeps Carpenters out of the drops and leaves room for the useful ones. Before a round, repair the windows of the bank and of the bar if you left the alley.

Training the street

  1. Start the round near Tombstone, so the spawns stay close.
  2. Run toward the Olympia to catch the zombies dropping from the wall, then double back toward Tombstone with the horde behind you.
  3. Collect the last spawns around the Rare Book Store, and stay tight so the car does not trap you.
  4. When the train is gathered, kill it with an upgraded Olympia, the Hades, or a Ray Gun Mark II from the Box.

An EMP Grenade freezes the horde long enough to reach the Box during a round, and a Monkey Bomb thrown at the end of an Insta-Kill gathers the zombies for it.
