The First Room

On ZFRR, the Town First Room is the street: the open square where every game starts, next to the lava pit in the middle of the map. Town has no small starting room. The players spawn outside, and everything they can reach without buying a door is the First Room: the street, the lava pit, the Double Tap alley at the back and the open ground floor of the Rare Book Store.

That makes it the richest First Room of Black Ops II. Two wall buys at 500 points, the M14 by the bank and the Olympia by the bookstore, plus Semtex for 250. Three perks stand in the street: Stamin-Up, Double Tap Root Beer and, in co-op only, Tombstone Soda. The Pack-a-Punch sits in the lava pit and works from round 1, and one of the two Mystery Box spots is in the alley. What the street does not have is Juggernog and Quick Revive: they are behind two of the three doors, the bar and the house with the MP5, both at 750 points, and the bank, with Speed Cola, costs 1000. In solo, the first down is the last.

B2, whose rules ZFRR follows, splits Town into two categories, and the Town leaderboard keeps one board for each:

Classic category

The whole street, doors closed. The Box, the Pack-a-Punch and the street perks are allowed; Hellhounds are off since March 2026, and the starting round can only be 1, 5 or 10.

Semtex category

The custom game option Magic must be disabled, which removes perks, Pack-a-Punch, the Mystery Box and power-ups. The players must stay in the Double Tap alley for the whole game, with wall weapons only.

PC patch

On PC, a run must be played on Plutonium, in its latest version, with the B2FR community patch, also up to date. Steam and Redacted are refused; consoles are allowed.

How to hold the street, both B2 categories

Overview

Town is the last stop of the bus in TranZit, cut out of the big map and sold as a standalone map with Black Ops II, playable in Survival and Grief. Of the three TranZit Survival maps, it is the one with everything: six perks, a Pack-a-Punch that needs no power and no building, two Box spots and five wall buys, in a wide square cut by lava. There is no power switch, and nothing needs one.

In TranZit, Town is a stop of the bus with Semtex, Juggernog, Stamin-Up, the Jet Gun bench and the Bank. Everything about that version is on the TranZit locations page; this article is about the Survival map.

Characters

As on every Green Run Survival map, nobody from the TranZit story is playable. The team is made of CIA or CDC operatives, who never speak. In Grief, the two factions play against each other, four against four.

The Town itself belongs to the four survivors of TranZit, who build the Jet Gun in its bar:

Enemies

A zombie with glowing eyes lunging at the player in the street in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Zombies

American civilians, some in straitjackets. Many come through windows; others climb a wall and drop down into the street, above the Olympia and beside the Double Tap alley.

A burning zombie walking down the street in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Burning zombies

A zombie that walks through the lava catches fire and can explode when it dies. Knifing one is risky: the blast can down you.

Hellhounds

Only in Custom Games, where the host can switch Hellhound rounds on. Town, Farm and Bus Depot are the only maps with that option, and B2 has banned it in Town First Room games since March 2026.

The TranZit specials stay away: no Denizens and no Avogadro in Survival.

Perks

Six Perk-a-Colas, all working from the start: there is no power to turn on.

The Stamin-Up machine against the outside wall of the bar in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Stamin-Up

2000, outside the bar, across the road from the bank and the M14. In the First Room.

The Tombstone Soda machine beside a wrecked car in the street in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Tombstone Soda

2000, co-op only, in the street that leads to the alley. In the First Room.

The Juggernog machine upstairs in the Juggernog house in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Juggernog

2500, upstairs in the house with the MP5, behind a 750 door.

The Quick Revive machine on the upper floor of the bar in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Quick Revive

1500, or 500 in solo, on the second floor of the bar, behind a 750 door.

The Speed Cola machine inside the bank, in front of the teller windows in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Speed Cola

3000, inside the bank, in front of the teller windows, behind a 1000 door.

The six perks and the Pack-a-Punch

Weapons

Every game starts with an M1911, the knife, two frag grenades and 500 points. Five things hang on the walls:

The M14 glowing on its chalk drawing on the stone wall of the bank in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

M14

500 points, on the bank wall next to a window, across from Stamin-Up. In the First Room.

The Olympia chalk drawing lit up on the stone wall by the Rare Book Store in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Olympia

500 points, on a wall next to the entrance of the Rare Book Store. In the First Room.

The Semtex chalk drawing on the wallpaper of the Rare Book Store, Hold to buy Semtex Grenades, Cost 250 in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Semtex

250 points, inside the Rare Book Store, across from the alley. In the First Room.

The MP5 chalk drawing lit up on the wall upstairs in the Juggernog house in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

MP5

1000 points, upstairs in the house with Juggernog.

Galvaknuckles, HUD icon, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Galvaknuckles

6000 points, inside the bar at the foot of the stairs. One punch kills until round 14.

Everything else comes from the Mystery Box, with the Ray Gun, the Ray Gun Mark II once the Vengeance map pack is installed, Monkey Bombs and EMP Grenades.

Every weapon, its price and its place

Buildables

None. Survival keeps the perks and some wall weapons of TranZit, but not its buildables. The Jet Gun workbench in the bar, the Turbine, the bus parts and the Pack-a-Punch parts all belong to the full map. In Town, the Pack-a-Punch is already standing in the lava.

Pack-a-Punch

The Pack-a-Punch machine standing in the lava pit by the fence in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The machine stands in the lava pit in the middle of the map, against a fence, and works from the first round: no power, no part, no door. It never moves. The catch is the floor: you have to stand in the lava while the machine upgrades your gun, and the lava burns until it downs you. Juggernog lets you take more of it, but not forever. It is the same makeshift machine as in TranZit, powered by a car battery.

Mystery Box

The Mystery Box under a broken roof, light falling through the window in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The Box has two spots, both kept from TranZit, and a teddy bear sends it from one to the other:

The Mystery Box open against the brick wall of the back alley in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Back alley

Next to Double Tap, across the street from the Rare Book Store. In the First Room.

Upstairs in the bar

Between a window and Quick Revive, under a ceiling without panels. Behind the bar door.

Lava and the pit

Glowing lava cracks running across the street toward the bar in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Lava cracks

They run across the whole street. Walking on them burns players and sets zombies on fire.

The lava pit in the middle of the square, the Pack-a-Punch at its far side in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The central pit

The widest patch of lava, in the middle of the square, where the game starts and where the Pack-a-Punch stands.

Fire damage

Burning zombies hurt when they explode, and the burns pile up with zombie hits. Juggernog reduces lava damage.

Buildings of Town

The bar and its red BAR sign across the street in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The bar

750 points. The Galvaknuckles at the foot of the stairs, Quick Revive and a Box spot upstairs. Stamin-Up is on its outside wall.

Inside the bank, the arched doorway and the barred teller window in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The bank

1000 points. Speed Cola in front of the teller windows. The vault stays shut in Survival.

The fenced lane at the back of the street, the Double Tap machine at its end in Town, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The Double Tap alley

A fenced lane at the back of the street, with Double Tap, Tombstone and a Box spot. The Semtex category is played there.

The Juggernog house

750 points. Juggernog and the MP5 upstairs, with two windows of its own.

The Rare Book Store

Open from the start, with the Semtex inside and the Olympia by its entrance.

Persistent upgrades and the Bank

Neither works here. Persistent Upgrades only exist on the main maps, TranZit, Die Rise and Buried, never in Survival or Grief. The Bank of TranZit sits in the vault of this very bank, but in Survival the vault cannot be blown open and points cannot be stored. Both are explained on the TranZit page.

Secrets

Survival maps have no Easter egg and no quest. Town keeps a few odd details:

Tower of Babble photos

By the Box spot upstairs in the bar, framed pictures show the tower of the TranZit Easter egg.

Crying child

Stand long enough by the dumpster near Double Tap and a boy faintly calls “Dad!”.

Crying baby

An infant can be heard on the bar stairs near the Galvaknuckles, and inside the Rare Book Store.

Screams

Faint screaming near Juggernog, and high-pitched screeching across the north side of the town.

Monkey out of bounds

Throw a Monkey Bomb outside the map and Richtofen reacts as if the Box had given you the teddy bear.

The Carrion teddy bear in the bar and the Morse code of the traffic light belong to the TranZit secrets.

Achievements

Town has no achievement of its own. Most of the base-game Zombies achievements are written for TranZit; two say “Green Run” and can be earned in Town:

AchievementHowGamerscoreTrophy
The Lights Of Their Eyes achievement icon, Call of Duty Black Ops II ZombiesThe Lights Of Their EyesIn Green Run, pacify at least 10 zombies with 1 EMP5GBronze
Dance On My Grave achievement icon, Call of Duty Black Ops II ZombiesDance On My GraveIn Green Run, acquire your Tombstone5GBronze

The EMP Grenade comes from the Box. Dance On My Grave needs a co-op game, since Tombstone is not sold in solo: buy it, go down, drop your tombstone, and pick it up when you respawn.

Trivia

  • On the loading screen, the postcard lies on a teddy bear.
  • In TranZit, Town is the last stop of the bus before it crosses the bridge back to the depot.
  • A church on the slope above the town overlooks the street; in TranZit, a shortcut from the Diner comes down past it.
  • A Reddit post from September 2026 showed the fridge model of TranZit originally placed inside the bar.
  • Town, Farm and Bus Depot are the only maps where Custom Games offer Hellhound rounds; the dogs were planned for the TranZit bus and never made it there.
