The one that started it all, first shipped as a bonus after the campaign of World at War and brought back on Black Ops with the four heroes of the series: Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and Richtofen. A bombed-out bunker somewhere in the countryside, a barricade and a round counter.

There is no power switch and no Pack-a-Punch. The Black Ops version adds Mule Kick in the starting room, the Thundergun and the Black Ops weapons in the Mystery Box, which sits in the Help room behind its door.

The First Room is the starting room: five windows, the Kar98k and the M1 Carbine on its walls, Mule Kick for 4000 points, and two ways out that stay shut, the Help door and the sofa on the stairs. No dogs, no boss, no special round: the only thing that changes is how fast they walk.

Fast, not far

A First Room speedrun is the opposite exercise of a high round : the room is the same, the goal is not. Instead of holding the spawn as long as possible, you clear the set number of rounds as fast as you can.

Which means the two boards never mix. A run that ranks first here would sit far down a high round board, and the other way around.

The rules are those of the room itself : no leaving the spawn, no exploit that skips it. What changes is the clock — it starts when the player spawns into the map and stops when the number of the next round appears.

Rules / Informations

We do not maintain our own ruleset. ZFRR follows the competitive First Room rules written and maintained by the player Zi0 on his site B2, the reference used across the Zombies community.

B2 gathers the global rules (no memory tools, no macros, no out-of-bounds glitches, no emulators) and those specific to the First Room category: doors stay closed, fast ray, rapid fire and the fast-throw grenade glitch are forbidden, while fast knifing and split-screen remain allowed. Every change is voted on publicly.

Game versions and platforms

The version the game is played on is part of the rules. A run played on a platform or a client refused below is not listed, whatever the round or the time — and a run already on the board is removed from it.

Timing a run

Everything above applies : a speedrun is the same room, with the same rules. What follows is what the clock adds.

A run is timed from the moment the player spawns into the map to the round-up animation of the round being run : the clock stops when that round appears on screen, not when it is cleared.
The timer must be visible on screen from the first frame to the last, in the same recording as the run.
It must never be cut, hidden or interrupted while the game is running — no jump cut, no overlay covering it, no camera change that drops it out of frame.
A pause is allowed, and the timer may stop with it : what is forbidden is losing sight of the clock while you are playing.
The run must be one continuous recording. A time split across two videos cannot be checked and will not be listed.

A run that breaks these rules is not accepted, whatever the round reached. If a username, a nationality or a score looks wrong, tell us through the contact form.
