Apollo’s Will

Apollo’s Will is the shield of Ancient Evil: a bronze hoplite shield paired with a throwing spear. Like every shield, it blocks the hits from behind when it is carried on the back, and from the front when it is held.

Thrown spear

The fire button throws the spear, which explodes on impact. The shield holds fifteen spears, and the explosion still kills zombies past round 20.

Stab

The melee button stabs a single target with the spear, as strong as a throw, but it wears the shield down.

The spear can also be lit at the Eternal Flame of the Temple of Apollo, once the Tributes have relit it. Its next hit then deals fire damage; the main quest uses the burning spear to set oil alight and to fire a ballista.

The three parts

Spear

In the Intersection of Treasuries, against a statue or stuck in a low wall, or in the Stoa of the Athenians, against a pillar.

Shield

Dropped by the Gegenees that appears when the Golden Bridle of Pegasus is taken.

Handle

On the Upper Road, on a rock before, under or after the bridge.

With the three parts, the shield is built at the worktable at the back of the Marketplace, the area just behind the Temple of Apollo. All the parts can be found before the Pack-a-Punch, so the shield comes early in a game.

The achievement The Best Offense is a Good Defense asks for a Gegenees killed with Apollo’s Will alone.

The Pegasus Strike

The Pegasus Strike is a spear reforged into a lightning rod. Planted in the ground, it calls Pegasus, who hovers above it, draws the zombies like a Monkey Bomb and strikes them with lightning for about 30 seconds. The bolts kill zombies and Catalysts at once, and hurt the Blightfathers and the Gegenees.

It is forged on the Dark Side, in the Cliff Ruins, from three tools, each in one of three spots:

Anvil

In the Cliff Ruins: against a column near the Mystery Box spot, on a rock between the Box and the forge, or on a rock across from the bird cage.

Hammer

In Python Pass: in the middle of the pass, in sight of the Titan, against an exposed rib by the Box spot, or against a small wall across the room from the Box.

Tongs

In the River of Sorrow: to the right of the symbol door, in a fire on the way to Python Pass, or in the skull of a skeleton lying against a wall.

Built at the forge, the first Pegasus Strike is free. After that, it joins the Mystery Box for the rest of the game.

In the First Room

Neither of them can be built doors closed: the parts of Apollo’s Will are on the Upper Road, in the Treasuries, the Stoa and on a Gegenees, and the Pegasus Strike is on the Dark Side.
