Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a space war game by Infinity Ward, and its Zombies mode is the studio’s first take on the mode. It tells its own story: four aspiring actors, Andre, Sally, Poindexter and A.J., come to an audition in the closed theater of Willard Wyler, a horror director voiced and played by Paul Reubens. Wyler performs a ritual that pulls them into his films, and each map is one of those films, with its own decade and its own genre, and most of them with a guest star.

The game launched with Zombies in Spaceland, a 1980s amusement park. Four DLC packs followed in 2017, each one first on PlayStation 4 and about a month later on Xbox One and PC: Rave in the Redwoods, Shaolin Shuffle, Attack of the Radioactive Thing and The Beast from Beyond. The first four have their First Room board here, all in the Fate Cards only category.

The First Room in Infinite Warfare

ZFRR tracks Infinite Warfare in a single category: the run stays in the starting area, no door or barrier is opened and every round is played in full. Only Fate Cards, the reusable cards every player owns from the start or unlocks by leveling up, can be brought into the match.

Doors closed

No door or barrier is opened, and every round is played in full.

Fate Cards only

No Fortune Card, the single-use cards that come from Zombie Crates.

No Irish Luck

This Fate Card draws a random card, which can be a Fortune Card.

No Director’s Cut

The mode that starts a match with every perk and 25,000 points stays off.

No one-window strategy

The zombies cannot be funneled through a single window.

Rave in the Redwoods

The upgraded melee weapon glitch is allowed. On the other three maps, no glitch or exploit is.

What Infinite Warfare Zombies brings

Candy Perks

The perks, eaten from vending machines, such as Up ‘N Atoms, Tuff ‘Nuff or Bang Bangs.

Fate and Fortune Cards

A deck of up to five cards, played one at a time as a meter fills, and refilled at the Fortune Teller twice per match.

Magic Wheel

The Mystery Box of the mode.

Afterlife Arcade

In Zombies in Spaceland, a player who bleeds out plays arcade games there to earn a Soul Token and come back.

Souvenir Coins

Three coins dropped by zombies, combined in a machine to make traps and equipment.

Director’s Cut

Unlocked by finishing all five main quests, it remixes every map with all perks and upgraded weapons from the start.

Rave in the Redwoods

(January 31, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Sabotage): a 1990s summer camp in the redwoods, taken over by a rave, with Kevin Smith. The game starts in the Bear Lodge.

Shaolin Shuffle

(April 18, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Continuum): 1970s New York, its subways, clubs and a kung fu dojo, with Pam Grier. The game starts in a subway station.

Attack of the Radioactive Thing

(July 6, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Absolution): Sonova Beach, a 1950s California beach town, hosted by Elvira. The game starts in the contamination tent.

The Beast from Beyond

Trivia

  • Every map is a film. Each map shares its name with a Willard Wyler film, the way Call of the Dead did before it.
  • Guest stars. David Hasselhoff, Kevin Smith, Pam Grier and Elvira each become playable on their map once its main quest is done.
  • A vote for a card. In August 2017, Infinity Ward asked players to choose between two new Fortune Cards, Packin’ Heat and Skull Hacker. Both were so popular that both came in the September 6, 2017 update.
  • A punk bar. The Heebie Geebies bar in Shaolin Shuffle is based on the New York punk venue CBGB.
