Mob of the Dead

BO2 PC : available Xbox : available PlayStation : available Plutonium : available

Alcatraz in 1933, with four gangsters trying to escape on a plane built from scrap. Mob of the Dead is the map most players name as the best in the series, for its setting, its music and its Afterlife.

The Afterlife lets you leave your body, walk as a ghost through electrified doors and power what your living self cannot reach. Brutus, the warden, arrives on his own and locks the perk machines he passes. The Blundergat, the Hell's Retriever and the Golden Spork are the map's rewards, and the escape plane is the easter egg.

The First Room is the cell block. Metal walkways, tight corners, doors that need the Afterlife to open, and no room to run a proper loop. Brutus arriving in a corridor this narrow is what ends most runs, because there is nowhere to take him for a walk.

Fast, not far

A First Room speedrun is the opposite exercise of a high round : the room is the same, the goal is not. Instead of holding the spawn as long as possible, you clear the set number of rounds as fast as you can.

Which means the two boards never mix. A run that would rank first here would not even enter a high round board, and the other way around.

The rules are those of the room itself : no leaving the spawn, no exploit that skips it. What changes is the clock — it starts when the player spawns into the map and stops on the round-up animation of the round being run.

Every time is backed by its video, as everywhere else on ZFRR. Send yours through the contact form and it goes up within the day.
