The Gauntlet of Siegfried is the Specialist weapon of Gorod Krovi: a dragon whelp perched on an iron gauntlet charged with Element 115, used the way a falconer uses a bird. It is not bought or found. It is raised from the last whole Dragon Egg of the Hatchery, then taken from the bottom Trial of the tombstones in Belinski Square. Taking it earns the achievement Wield a Fist of Iron.

How it fights

The whelp in flight

The alternate fire sends the whelp into the air, where it stays near the player and throws fireballs at nearby enemies.

115 Punch

With the whelp away, the gauntlet gains a strong thrusting punch that sends basic zombies flying.

Fire breath

While the whelp sits on the gauntlet, it breathes green fire like a flamethrower. Its bite, the melee attack, hits harder than the Bowie Knife.

A whelp left in the air uses up the whole charge before it returns. Call it back before putting the weapon away to save the rest. The whelp and the 115 Punch are both needed in the Easter egg.

Raising the Dragon Egg

There is only one egg, even in co-op, and its progress is shared. The steps must be done in this order, and the Hatchery is visited at least three times. Each step fills part of the egg’s bar on the scoreboard, and the bottom Trial of the tombstone follows it too.

  1. Find the egg: in the Hatchery basement, a green-scaled egg rests on the rafters above the sewer grate. Shoot it down and pick it up.
  2. Bathe it in fire: set it in a nest the dragons burn, such as the small one in front of Dragon Command, opposite the middle of the stairs. It must be placed before the dragon breathes. It then cools for the rest of that round and the whole next one before it can be picked up again.
  3. Napalm Zombies: with the egg in hand, kill around 8 to 10 Napalm Zombies, the ones set alight by dragon fire.
  4. Penetrating kills: kill around 8 to 10 zombies with shots that go through. A sniper rifle must kill two zombies with one bullet; the mounted MG42 of the Hatchery counts with any kill. The GKZ-45 Mk3 does not count.
  5. Melee kills: kill around 8 to 10 zombies with the knife, the Bowie Knife or the Guard of Fafnir, fireball included.
  6. Incubate it: place the egg in the incubator in the middle of the Hatchery basement. A short lockdown starts, where enemies must die close to the egg. It then cools again for the rest of the round and the whole next one; S.O.P.H.I.A. says “incubation complete” when it is ready.
  7. Claim the gauntlet: pick up the egg, for 5000 XP, then go back to your tombstone in Belinski Square. Interact with the bottom Trial: the Gauntlet of Siegfried rises from the ground.

The bar does not move with every kill. If it has grown since the last look, the current step is done. The Napalm Zombie kills can be done while waiting for the Dragon Strike lockdown, and the MG42 and melee kills during that lockdown itself.

Dragon Wings

Raising the egg is also one of the three conditions for the Dragon Wings, with riding the dragon from all three stations and earning the Dragon Strike. The Gauntlet must be in a player’s hands for it to count.
