The witch’s house

Beyond the church of Buried stands a large mansion, the house of the Ghost. Players also call her the Witch or the Mistress. From outside, she can sometimes be seen watching from a window, and close to the house you hear screams, moans and her voice: “This is my house”, “You do not belong here”. Leroy refuses to go in.

The Navcard

The Buried card lies on a bookshelf, on the maze side of the house.

Getting in

Debris blocks the way in front of the mansion. Leroy breaks it with Booze, or you clear the gate with the Paralyzer or a Trample Steam.

Why go in

The house holds Double Tap Root Beer, the back door leads to the maze and the Pack-a-Punch, and a perk bottle waits there every few rounds.

The Ghost

As soon as a player walks in, copies of the Ghost spawn without end and float after them, a little faster than a running zombie. They stop spawning when everyone has left the house. The more players inside, the more Ghosts.

Easy to kill

A little tougher than a zombie of the same round. The Ray Gun and Ray Gun Mark II handle her even late; the Galvaknuckles kill her in one punch until about round 16.

Point thief

Each hit takes 2000 points. Only when you have no points left does she hurt you like a zombie.

Rewards

Each Ghost you kill gives a free grenade, and a free Claymore if you bought them.

What does not work

The Paralyzer slows her and stops her stealing, but cannot kill her. Monkey Bombs do not attract her.

Half-Off

With this Persistent Upgrade, during Double Points she only takes 1000 points per hit.

The perk bottle

When the windows of the mansion are lit, a free perk is ready. It comes back about every five rounds.

  1. Walk into the mansion while the lights are on. The zombies of the round disappear and Ghosts take their place; in co-op, some also spawn outside to chase the others.
  2. Cross the house and get everyone back outside.
  3. Kill the last Ghost: it drops a Random Perk Bottle, which earns Ectoplasmic Residue.

With a Time Bomb planted just before the last Ghost dies, you can rewind and kill her again for a second bottle. Walk in when the lights are off, and the Ghosts come anyway, but the zombies keep coming too.

Who she was

The records of Tag der Toten, in Black Ops 4, give her a name: Ms. Brown, mother of Jebediah Brown, the blacksmith of Purgatory Point. In April 1885 a miner who had come back from the mines sick and feral tore her throat out. Jebediah, who built the first Pack-a-Punch, later put her body inside the machine; it never came back, but a younger version of her started wandering the house and playing the piano. When the town was pulled under Angola, she stayed in her house.

The maze

Behind the mansion lies a hedge maze. Its gates move: while nobody is inside, it switches between seven layouts every ten seconds. The Paralyzer can lift you over closed gates, but not over the hedges.

The centre fountain

Blow it up with explosives once the church fountain is broken, and a portal back to Processing opens.

Mazed and Confused

Survive a whole round inside the maze on round 20 or later.

Two Box spots

The Mystery Box can appear at two places inside the maze.

Coloured levers

Richtofen’s side of Mined Games hides four levers on the gates.

Back to Processing

  1. Give Leroy Booze so he smashes the fountain in front of the church and the mansion.
  2. Cross the mansion into the maze and destroy the fountain in the centre with explosives.
  3. Jump into the portal: it drops you in Processing, the First Room, right next to the NAV Table’s build spot. This earns When the Revolution Comes.
