Not Ready to Die

The song Easter egg of Call of the Dead is “Not Ready to Die”, written and played by Avenged Sevenfold for the map. To start it, hold the use button on three Element 115 meteorites, in any order:

Starting area meteorite

By the water, on the leftmost of three metal barrels, two standing and one on its side, among bushes against an ice wall.

PhD Flopper meteorite

Past the left-hand wreckage and the cave, down the stairs behind the Box spot at the foot of the lighthouse, in the PhD Flopper room, under a small nightstand with a clock, next to an upturned bed.

Ship meteorite

In the mess of the ship, past the right-hand wreckage from the starting area. Take the door just right of the stairs to the power room and follow the corridor to the booths: it is on the left seat of the rightmost booth.

Only the first one is in the First Room, so the song cannot be played without opening a door. The song names Group 935 and Samantha Maxis, and its single cover looks like the map’s promotional poster. It also played at the start of Blackout matches in Black Ops 4 during Operation Apocalypse Z.

Richtofen’s radios

Nine radios stand around the map. Four are used in the co-op Easter egg; the other five play audio diaries recorded by Edward Richtofen in 1945, at Group 935. None of them is in the starting area.

  1. Log 1471, September 2, 1945: under a garage door in the Stamin-Up house, right of the machine. Richtofen’s experiments on “subject N3WB”, Takeo, on the Russian, Nikolai, and on a Mexican subject he may have killed; he wonders what Maxis would think of his experiments on “the little girl”.
  2. Log 1472, September 10, 1945: at the top of the lighthouse, right of the Box spot. The zombie army is stored until he can break the “trust barrier”, and a spy caught at Verrückt is being sent to replace the subject he broke.
  3. Log 1473, September 17, 1945: in the ship, under the MP40, in a small pool next to a staircase. Richtofen’s first meeting with Dempsey, beaten into submission: “Get your hands off me you damn dirty Nazi!”
  4. Log 1474, September 20, 1945: right of Double Tap, at the front of the ship. The rescue team sent to Verrückt, the suspected moles Harvey Yena and Peter McCain, and the origin of the crew’s habits: Dempsey’s anger, Takeo’s proverbs, Nikolai’s vodka.
  5. Log 1475, October 1, 1945: on a rock past the tunnel of Speed Cola and the Sickle. Maxis will not mass-produce the DG-2, and Richtofen turns against him and “that little brat”.

Log 1474 stops in mid-sentence; the end of it is heard in Tag der Toten, the Black Ops 4 reimagining of the map.

Other secrets

The Avenged Sevenfold poster

Behind the generator, on a small section of wall in the room of the locked door, the band poses in what look like Soviet uniforms: M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ and the late drummer The Rev.

The photo in Der Riese

A picture of a ship wrecked by a lighthouse was already pinned on a notice board in Der Riese, the last World at War map.

The deathsong

The Game Over music is “Pareidolia”, played in full as the song Easter egg of the next map, Shangri-La.

The paintings

The paintings around PhD Flopper hint at where the four slips of the dials code of the Easter egg are hidden.
