Overview

The Blundergat is the wonder weapon of Mob of the Dead, a cross between a blunderbuss and a Gatling gun. It is the first primary wonder weapon to fire ordinary bullets, and it can take four forms in the same game.

Blundergat

A single-shot, break-action gun. 1 round in the barrel, 60 in reserve. Its seven pellets spread in a flat horizontal line, so one shot hits a whole row of zombies. From the Mystery Box for 950 points.

Blunder Sweeper

The Pack-a-Punched Blundergat, called The Sweeper. 2 rounds, 120 in reserve, and semi-automatic.

Acidgat

The Blundergat converted with the Acid Gat Kit. A three-round burst of sticky acid. 3 rounds, 90 in reserve.

Acid Withering

The Pack-a-Punched Acidgat, Vitriolic Withering. 3 rounds, 150 in reserve, and its acid draws zombies in.

Because it fires real bullets, the Blundergat works with perks the way a normal gun does. Speed Cola helps with its constant reloads, Electric Cherry fires on every reload, and Deadshot halves the pellet spread.

The Acid Gat Kit

The kit has three parts, each with three possible spots that change from game to game. Build it on any of the three workbenches (behind Electric Cherry, at the back of the Cafeteria, or on the lower docks), then place a Blundergat in it. A few moments later the Acidgat is ready to collect.

PartAreaPossible spots
MotorWarden’s OfficeOn the floor near the Uzi wall-buy, left of the Mystery Box spot, or left of the fireplace
CaseCell blockOn a desk just outside the starting area, by the Afterlife box near the Cafeteria, or under the stairs in the hallway that leads to the Warden’s Office
Acid BottleInfirmaryOn a wooden table by a bloody bathtub, on the floor in the corner of the room with two bathtubs, or on a trolley in the hallway

Acid Drip

Converting a weapon with the kit unlocks the Acid Drip achievement (20 Gamerscore, Bronze trophy).

Sweeper in

Put The Sweeper in the kit and you get Vitriolic Withering straight away.

No way back

The kit cannot turn an Acidgat back into a Blundergat.

Timer

Collect your weapon. Left in the kit too long, it can be lost.

Padlock

Brutus can lock the workbench that holds the kit. Reopening it costs points.

How the acid works

Acidgat rounds stick to whatever they hit: walls, floors or zombies. They burst a moment later. A zombie that takes a round stops in place until it blows. The spread is wide, so shots rarely land exactly where you aim. The burst can hurt you too, which makes Jugger-Nog worth having.

Vitriolic Withering adds a lure: its acid pulls zombies toward it, like a Monkey Bomb. Brutus ignores that lure. From around rounds 20 to 23, the Withering starts leaving crawlers instead of kills.

The free Blundergat

You can skip the box. Five blue skulls are hidden around the island. They are only visible in Afterlife, they never move, and you collect each one by throwing the Hell’s Retriever at it.

SkullLocation
1Docks, on a lamppost on the hill across from Jugger-Nog
2Docks, on a pillar near the Mystery Box spot
3Roof, out of reach in a corner of the roof
4A cell with a toilet next to the library
5An electric pylon outside the barrier by Speed Cola, near the Warden’s Office

Once all five are collected, the Warden’s desk catches fire and a free Blundergat appears on it.

Tips

Line them up

The flat spread rewards zombies coming at you in a straight line, down a corridor or a walkway.

Spork

The Acidgat is required for the Golden Spork quest.

First Room

The skulls and the kit parts are spread across the whole island, from the roof to the docks. A run that never leaves the starting cell block can finish neither.
