Mob of the Dead: Golden Spork

Overview

The Golden Spork is the melee wonder weapon of Mob of the Dead. It replaces your knife and kills a zombie in one hit up to round 34. That makes it the second strongest melee weapon in Zombies, behind only the upgraded One Inch Punch of Origins. You get it at the end of a side quest that starts with a plain spoon buried in the prison walls.

Silver Spoon

The halfway reward. It hits about as hard as Galvaknuckles, but the next step takes it from you.

Spork

One-hit kills up to round 34, on every normal zombie.

Spork range

It is still a melee weapon. You need zombies in arm’s reach.

Requirements

Retriever

You need the Hell’s Retriever. The Hell’s Redeemer works too, but it is not required.

Acid

You need the Acidgat or its Pack-a-Punched form, Vitriolic Withering. See the Blundergat page.

Bridge

You must have flown the plane to the Golden Gate Bridge at least once.

Difficulty

Original difficulty only. The quest cannot be started on Easy.

The quest step by step

The poster. In the row of cells near the Warden’s Office, one cell has a movie poster on its wall. Throw the Hell’s Retriever at it. The poster falls and reveals a hole in the wall.
The spoon in the wall. Go into Afterlife. A portal is now open at the end of that row of cells. Inside, a spoon lies on the floor next to a large crack with a skeleton in the wall, the convict who tried to dig his way out. Zap the spoon. The Demonic Announcer laughs when it works.
The Cafeteria. Go to the barrier at the back of the Cafeteria. The spoon now rests on a table against the left wall, behind the barrier. Throw the Retriever at it to pick it up. You hear Brutus, and the Silver Spoon becomes your melee weapon.
The bathtub. In the Infirmary, find the lone bathtub full of blood across from a Mystery Box spawn. Hold the action button next to it. The spoon appears and stirs the blood.
The showers. Go down to the Showers and kill zombies with the Acidgat or Vitriolic Withering. When you have enough kills, the Demonic Announcer laughs again.
The Spork. Return to the bathtub and hold the action button. A zombie hand rises out of the blood holding the Golden Spork. Take it.

Steps 3, 4 and 6 must be done by every player who wants a Spork. If you bleed out after getting it, the Spork is gone. Redo steps 3 and 4 and the hand will hold it out again.

Tips

Order

Get the Retriever and the Acid Gat Kit first. Step 5 is the slow one, and nothing else can replace the acid kills.

Round 34

Past that round the Spork no longer kills in one hit. In a high-round game it becomes a backup, not a plan.

First Room

Every step happens outside the cell block, and the quest needs a bridge trip. It does not fit a run that stays in the starting area.
