The bus and its driver

Inside the bus: boarded windows, seats and the driver at the far end in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The bus is the backbone of TranZit: a short, blue, beaten-up bus that carries the players from stop to stop through the fog. It is driven by T.E.D.D., a robot bolted to the driver’s seat. Players never steer it. They can only influence when it leaves.

The B23R chalk drawing on the bus ceiling, Hold to buy B23R, Cost 1000 in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

B23R

A three-round burst pistol hangs on the ceiling inside, for 1000 points.

A timer, not rounds

The bus moves on its own clock, whatever the round. It beeps before it leaves and honks as it moves off.

Doors

Two doors open and close on demand. Keeping them shut makes it leave sooner, and once it moves zombies cannot come in through the doors.

Left behind

Miss the departure and you wait at the stop, or you walk through the fog.

The route

The bus always starts at the depot, right outside the First Room, waits briefly, then loops forever in this order:

OrderPlaceThe bus
1Bus DepotStops
2TunnelSlows down, does not stop
3DinerStops
4FarmStops
5Cornfield (Nacht der Untoten, Pylon)Passes by
6Power StationStops
7Hunter’s CabinPasses by
8TownStops
9BridgeCrosses back to the depot

Players can jump off while it drives past the spots where it does not stop, without taking damage. The bridge collapses the first time the bus crosses it: the bus still gets over, but the road is uneven and debris can knock players off the roof.

Three upgrades

Three parts can be fitted to the bus. They spawn at random in four rooms that only a Turbine opens:

  1. Bus Depot: the room behind the power doors, next to the First Room.
  2. Diner: the shed by the lamp post, past the garage.
  3. Farm: the shed near the tractor.
  4. Town: the “Rare Books” store.
The TranZit bus fitted with the plow at the front, model render, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Plow

Fitted at the front, it kills the zombies it hits and blocks the front window.

The hatch fitted in the roof of the bus in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Hatch

Fitted in the roof, it lets you jump up to the roof from inside and drop back in. It can be used only once: in the bus, or in the back corner of the Diner to reach the Galvaknuckles on the roof. Wait too long to fit it and the zombies break the roof open themselves.

Ladder

Fitted outside, it lets you climb to the roof from the street. Useful at the Power Station, where the parked bus blocks the way.

Fitting all three in one game earns Undead Man’s Party Bus (15G, Bronze). Taking the hatch to the Diner roof means giving that up for the game.

Zombies on the bus

Boarding

They jump on, tear the boards off the windows, climb to the roof and come in through the windows, the hatch and the windshield. The windows can be repaired while driving.

The roof

Denizens never attack a player on the roof, but in the Tunnel low signs, pipes and rebar can sweep you off.

The chase

Zombies run after the bus faster than a super sprinter and keep pace just behind the back window. Shoot them before they catch up.

Inside

Zombies on board move slowly, stumbling, but their attack reaches further. A zombie killed inside or on the roof dissolves into a cloud of blood.

Revives

A player downed on the bus can be revived by a teammate from anywhere on the bus.

Power-ups

One that drops inside stays put while the bus drives on. Grab it or lose it.

When the bus stops

The Avogadro latched onto the back window of the bus, seen from inside the moving bus in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Avogadro

He can latch onto the bus and shut it down for about a minute if nobody hits him with melee.

EMP Grenade

An EMP that goes off near the bus shuts it down too.

Turbine

Setting a Turbine down next to it starts it again.

Portals

The other way around the map is underground. Once lit by the power or a Turbine, the green lamp posts at the stops and halfway between them (none at the Farm) scare Denizens. Walk under a lit lamp with a Denizen on your head and it jumps off and digs a hole. Jump in and you come out at another lamp post, at random. The hole closes after one use. The first trip earns Fuel Efficient.

In a First Room game

The bus is parked right outside the 750 door when the game begins and leaves soon after. A First Room run on TranZit stays in the depot hall, so the bus leaves without you and keeps looping around the map all game long.
