The First Room traced from the game files: the lava crack splits the hall in two. Click to zoom.

On ZFRR, the TranZit First Room is the bus depot hall where every game starts: the same waiting room as the Bus Depot Survival map, but with TranZit rules. Two wall buys, the M14 and the Olympia, both at 500 points, four barricaded windows, a lava crack across the floor and one door to the street for 750 points.

What Bus Depot switches off is live here. The hall holds a Quick Revive machine, 500 points in solo and 1500 in co-op, which needs power like every machine on the map. The three Turbine parts and their workbench are in the room, and a Turbine opens the two metal power doors on the garage side. The game also opens differently: four zombies stand still in the middle of the hall and only wake up when a player comes close or after a while. Outside, the bus waits a moment, then leaves without anyone who is not on board.

The records standing today, solo to four players, are shown next to this article, and the TranZit leaderboard lists every run with its video.

Overview

TranZit, also called Green Run, is the launch map of Black Ops II Zombies and was the largest Zombies map ever made when it came out. Five bus stops, a handful of hidden spots and miles of road lost in a thick fog, all linked by a bus driven by a robot. It brought in buildables, the Bank, the Weapon Locker, Persistent Upgrades and Tombstone Soda, and it is still the most divisive map of the series.

Characters

TranZit introduces Victis, four survivors of the world Richtofen destroyed at the end of Moon. They go on to play Die Rise and Buried.

Samuel J. Stuhlinger, official portrait, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Samuel J. Stuhlinger

A former member of a cult that ate zombie flesh, and the only one who hears Richtofen, voiced by David Boat.

Abigail Misty Briarton, official portrait, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Abigail “Misty” Briarton

Who was fighting the dead in Hanford when the bus picked her up, voiced by Stephanie Lemelin.

Marlton Johnson, official portrait, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Marlton Johnson

Who fought alongside Misty in Hanford until the bus came for them both, voiced by Scott Menville.

Russman, official portrait, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Russman

The old man who stole the bus and its driver, and who cannot remember his full name, voiced by Keith Szarabajka.

Two voices give them orders: Dr. Ludvig Maxis, heard by everyone, and Edward Richtofen, heard by Samuel only. Richtofen is also the announcer.

Enemies

A zombie at a boarded window of the depot hall at the Bus Depot in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Zombies

Dressed as patients and staff of a “Hanford Sanitarium” that is nowhere on the map. Some stand dormant until you come close, and they sprint after the bus faster than a super sprinter.

A zombie on fire walking along the depot after crossing lava at the Bus Depot in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Burning zombies

Any zombie that walks through lava catches fire and explodes when killed. The blast can down you.

A Denizen, the small creature of the fog, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Denizens

Small creatures that come out of the ground as soon as you walk into the fog, jump on your head and claw at you. Five knife hits shake one off.

The Avogadro, a figure of pure electricity, standing over lava in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Avogadro

A being of pure electricity, set free the first time the power is turned on. Only melee or one EMP Grenade beats him, and he can stop the bus.

There are no Hellhounds in TranZit: they only appear on the Survival and Grief maps, and only when the host switches them on in Custom Games.

Denizens, the Avogadro and how to beat them

The bus

The bus is driven by T.E.D.D., a robot nobody controls. It runs on a timer, not on rounds, and loops forever in the same order:

  1. Bus Depot (stop): where every game starts.
  2. Tunnel: driven through without stopping.
  3. Diner (stop).
  4. Farm (stop).
  5. Cornfield: driven past without stopping.
  6. Power Station (stop).
  7. Hunter’s Cabin: driven past without stopping.
  8. Town (stop), then over the bridge back to the depot.

Zombies on board

They climb on, break the windows and get in while it drives. Inside, they stumble.

Three upgrades

The ladder and the hatch reach the roof, the plow kills zombies in front of the bus. Fitting all three in one game earns Undead Man’s Party Bus.

Locations

Five stops are on the route, and four more spots free of fog can be reached on foot. Everything in between is fog, and the fog belongs to the Denizens.

Buildables

TranZit is the map that brought buildables to Zombies: parts lie around the map, you carry them to a workbench and build. Only one item fits in the equipment slot at a time.

The Pack-a-Punch machine built in the hallway under the bank in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

Pack-a-Punch

Hidden under the bank in Town, behind three doors. Two are blown open with grenades, the third opens while a Turbine powers a lightning-bolt door back at the Power Station. The machine is then built in the hallway, and costs 5000 points a weapon.

It can be turned off

Perks, the power switch and the Pack-a-Punch step by step

Easter egg: Tower of Babble

The Pylon, the big electric tower in the cornfield, at night in TranZit, Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies

The main quest asks Victis to charge the Pylon, the electric tower in the cornfield, for one of the two voices. It is the first Zombies Easter egg with two sides, and it must be played on Original difficulty.

Maxis’ side

Power off, two Turbines under the Pylon, the Avogadro killed there with an EMP, then two Turbines at two lamp posts. At least two players. This is the canon ending.

Richtofen’s side

Power on, the Jet Gun overloaded under the Pylon, 25 explosive kills, then four EMPs on four lamp posts. Only Samuel hears the orders, and it can be done solo.

Trivia

  • The Diner sign reads North Highway Diner, but only the letters of “Now Die” light up. Underneath, “Open 24 hours” becomes “On 4 U”.
  • The bus and the station are modelled on Greyhound. The driver’s hat says BLOODHOUND.
  • The loading screen song is Lovesong for a Deadman, by Kevin Sherwood.
  • On the zombies’ work shirts, “Sanitarium” is spelled “Sanitaruim”.
  • Cornfield, Nacht der Untoten, Power Station and Tunnel were planned as separate maps. Only Bus Depot, Farm, Town and Diner shipped.
  • Any room opened with a Turbine stays open as long as a player is inside, the Pack-a-Punch hallway included.
  • For records of the depot hall in Survival, see the Bus Depot wiki.
