Zombies and spores

The zombies of Zetsubou No Shima are Japanese, for the first time since Shi No Numa. Around the island, orange spores grow on the walls and rocks. Shot or touched, a spore bursts into a cloud that lasts about ten seconds and makes the player cough, which stops sprinting and shooting. A zombie that walks through a cloud carries an orange haze, and a zombie near a full-grown spore, with a darker base and a thick smoke, can mutate.

Thrashers

The mutation

Roots wrap the zombie and drag it underground, and it rises as a Thrasher, a huge body covered in spores and moss, with a second mouth in its chest. Shooting the wall spores before they are full-grown means fewer Thrashers, but they also come on their own as the rounds go up.

How it fights

One hit downs a player without Juggernog, and brings a player with it from full health to the red. It releases spore clouds, digs underground and comes up next to a player who strays too far.

Enraged

Once hurt, it glows red and runs. It eats nearby zombies to regrow its spores.

Swallowed

In co-op, it eats downed players. Killing it frees them, and a player revived after that earns In the Belly of the Beast. It never does this in solo.

How to kill it

Only by bursting the spores on its body. Like the bosses of other maps, it ignores Nukes and Insta-Kills. A full charge of the KT-4 can kill it outright, and the Vaporize of the Skull of Nan Sapwe kills it quickly. Its head can be shot off, but it keeps fighting.

A dead Thrasher leaves a spore cloud for about ten seconds, which can mutate another zombie. More than one Thrasher can be on the map at once.

Spiders

Spiders replace the Hellhounds: whole rounds of them, ending with a Max Ammo. From round 21 they also join the normal rounds. A spider gives 50 points when killed and nothing for a hit.

A spider spitting a web, Zetsubou No Shima, Call of Duty Black Ops III Zombies

Webs

They spit webs at the player and spin them over paths, perk machines and GobbleGum machines, which then cannot be used. Holding the use button cuts a web, and a grenade thrown onto it sticks and clears it. A zombie that walks into a web gets caught and slowly dies.

Spores

A spider that walks into a spore cloud dies at once.

The KT-4

Bursts small spiders and webs in one shot.

The Giant Spider

Behind the blue water near Lab A, a cave is sealed by blue webbing that only the KT-4 can clear. A one-way slide drops the player into the lair of the Giant Spider. Zombies stay outside, but spiders follow.

Its weak spot

Only its mouth, and only while it foams with green ooze.

Its attacks

Its legs down a player without Juggernog in one stab, and in two with it. It spits webs that hurt and slow, and calls swarms of spiders. A Max Ammo drops every few spiders killed.

Its reward

The cave ceiling falls into a bridge to the rest of the cave, with a free pool of Widow’s Wine for the achievement Sanguine Serum. One of its fangs is an ingredient of the Masamune. It stays dead for the rest of the game.

The Dingo of the middle Trial of the Ancients is a strong answer: with Double Tap, about three magazines kill it in solo.

Keepers and the giant Thrasher

Keepers

They only appear in the chamber of the Skull of Nan Sapwe, coming for the Skull. Twenty must be killed in solo to charge it.

The giant Thrasher

The original Takeo, mutated in his cell under the Bunker. He is the final boss of Seeds of Doubt, fought with the Masamune.

In the First Room

Doors closed, the spawn area sees zombies, Thrashers and spiders. A spore grows by the path to Lab A. With no KT-4, no Skull and no Gas Mask, a Thrasher can only be killed by bursting its spores with the guns of the clearing.
