Seeds and the bucket

Plants are the heart of Zetsubou No Shima. Zombies drop Seeds as a power-up, and a player can hold up to three. A Seed goes into one of the stone planters around the map and grows into a full plant after three rounds, whatever is done to it. What it becomes depends on the water it gets, once a round, and on the KT-4. The right recipe only raises the chances of a plant, it never makes it certain, so growing several at once is the safe way.

The bucket

One lies in the spawn area, one in Lab A, one in Lab B, and one near the blue or the green water. Filled in a pool of Element 115 water, it holds enough to water three times.

The fertiliser

A shot of the KT-4 or the Masamune on a watered Seed. A fertilised Seed gives off green particles.

The waters

Blue water

Behind Lab A, before the way to the Giant Spider.

Green water

Behind Lab B, under scaffolding, against a meteor of Element 115.

Purple water

In the far left corner of the Living Quarters, in the Bunker.

Rainbow water

Inside the Sewer Pipe, from a lump of Element 115 on the right side of the pipe. It is meant for the hidden planter of the Masamune; anywhere else its effect on a Seed is random.

Any of the coloured waters also works the generators of Lab A and Lab B, the first step of the power.

The plants

Three times blue

A pod that opens on a reward, like the Harvest Pods of Shadows of Evil, from power-ups to weapons such as the Ray Gun or the Monkey Bomb. Fertilised each round, it gives rarer rewards: a Bowie Knife, an extra perk slot, and the FlaK shell of the Easter egg.

Three times green

A plant that impales the first zombie that comes near and holds it while it slowly dies. Fertilised, it holds the zombie longer.

Three times purple

A plant that draws zombies and Thrashers, tears their heads off and drops them in its pitcher. It also hurts players who stand too close. Fertilised, it lasts longer.

One of each, not fertilised

The best chance of a fruit, which gives a free perk if a slot is free, Electric Cherry and Deadshot Daiquiri included. With no free slot, the character throws up, for the achievement One Too Many.

One of each, fertilised each round

The best chance of a Clone Plant. Using it copies the player’s perks, weapons, ammunition, equipment, shield, mask and active GobbleGum into the pod. A player who goes down comes back out of it, for the achievement Herbal Remedy. A second copy makes the first plant wither.

No water

The Seed still grows, into a plant with a low-tier reward.

The Golden Bucket

The Golden Bucket never runs dry, rainbow water included, and pressing sprint and melee together switches its water between blue, green and purple.

  1. Get the Skull of Nan Sapwe.
  2. Grow, without the KT-4, one plant of each kind: one never watered, one three times blue, one three times green, one three times purple, and one fruit plant from one water of each.
  3. Reveal the blueprint by the purple water with Mesmerize.
  4. Under the main part of Lab B, facing the wall across from the wall spore, use Mesmerize on the vines to uncover a hidden planter.
  5. Place the bucket in it. Three more planters appear: plant a Seed in each. They grow at once into plants that eat zombies.
  6. Feed them enough zombies and they sink back into the ground. The bucket plant then gives the Golden Bucket.

In the First Room

The spawn area has a bucket and a planter, but no water: the three pools are behind the doors. Doors closed, a Seed can only be planted dry, and its plant gives a low-tier reward.
